Nike/LM Rankings: Denver Headlines Preseason Top 20

Denver, a perennial title contender under coach Bill Tierney in recent seasons with a wealth of talent returning, is the No. 1 team in the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Top 20, ahead of NCAA finalists Notre Dame (No. 2) and Duke (No. 3), which has captured two straight championships and three of the last five.

Syracuse and Johns Hopkins round out the top 5, followed by the ACC's fourth and fifth members of the top 10 in North Carolina and Virginia at Nos. 6 and 7, respectively. Maryland, moving from the ACC to join Johns Hopkins in the new Big Ten, is next at No. 8, with Loyola and Cornell rounding out the top 10.

Nothing like playing 7 of the top 10 in your regular season schedule. LOL unreal.

Really surprised Syracuse didnt schedule a 13th game somewhere in the middle of the season to pick up a Win a la Binghamton last year. Hope the gamble pays off.

Guessing that Desko wants to avoid one of those brutal "5 games in 14 days" stretches.

Guessing that Desko wants to avoid one of those brutal "5 games in 14 days" stretches.

Can't argue against that logic, we have seen how much of a toal that can take on a team. Still with the schedule as tough as it is it would have been nice to get another game in there even if it was kind a "cupcake". Lot of pressure on this years team to win every game its supposed to on "paper".

Cant afford any slip ups.
