Pitt is rolling Delaware 35-0 in the 2nd quarter. They are running all over them with a converted fullback. That is how you beat a team that is smaller and less talented than you.

Pitt looks worlds better than us right now. Hopefully the bye week and the close win refocuses this team.

Not to single you out, as many here have said similar things. But, we had almost zero success when we tried to run over that "smaller and less talented team." Take out PTG's 65 yard run, and the O gained 61 yards on 26 carries trying to pound the ball between the tackles (2.3 yards/carry). That is pathetic and has little to do with play calling.

Add to that the failed attempts to punch the ball in from the 1 behind the NFL left tackle. There were plays during that sequence when we had O linemen blasted backwards/pancaked into the backfield. That is the personification of being physically dominated.

At what point other then the most obvious runs by AAM at the goal line did we pound the ball?

All the runs were sweeps and slow option draw type plays. It was horrible play calling.

Misery loves company, we are far from alone in struggling against FCS competition. I'm looking at you; Wake, NC State, GT, IU, Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State...
But, it's clear that early separation is happening with fundamentally solid teams and ones that will struggle this season...
To be brutally honest, we are more a kin to Wake Forest than Rutgers right now...
