Orange Alumni Classic Set for Sept. 24

Legends of Syracuse lacrosse past will face current stars on Saturday, Sept. 24 in the annual alumni game.

The seventh-annual Orange Alumni Classic is the highlight of the fall for the Syracuse lacrosse team and will once again feature two games. The first is the "Legends Game" which is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. and the second contest features a squad of recent alums against the 2017-17 'Cuse squad that is scheduled to begin at approximately 4 p.m.

Both games are open to the public. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in person at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B). All proceeds go directly to the men's lacrosse program. Parking is free in the surface lots across from the Dome.

MEET THE ALUMNI ALL-STARS
Attack:
Dylan Donahue '16 – A first-team All-American in 2016, Donahue went on to play professionally with the Charlotte Hounds in his first season in the pros. Concluded his career seventh on Syracuse's all-time goal scoring list with 143.

Derek Maltz '14 – A team captain in 2014, Maltz was an All-BIG EAST selection in the team's final season in the league in 2013 before going on to record five points during the 2014 ACC Tournament.

Tommy Palasek '12 – As a senior in 2012, led the Orange in points (54) and assists (30) before being named to the All-BIG EAST team. He then went on to the professional ranks where he has played five seasons with the New York Lizards, where he recorded 31 goals in 2015.

Randy Staats '15 – USILA Honorable Mention All-American in 2015 and a Tewaaraton Award nominee in 2014, Staats played two seasons for the Orange after graduating from OCC. Currently plays for the Atlanta Blaze where he recorded an eight point game this season.

Midfield
Matt Abbott '09 – Two-time All-American and NCAA Champion, Abbott was a 2009 Tewaaraton Award finalist, Abbott is still known as the 'human clear' by many. He's currently in his eighth season in the MLL, playing for the Chesapeake Bayhawks.

Matt Alexander '99 – The oldest member of the Alumni All-Stars, Alexander helped the Orange reach the NCAA title game in his senior season.

Josh Amidon '11 – A two-time All-American, Amidon was a captain on the 2011 Orange squad and appeared in every game of his career, including NCAA Championship seasons of 2008 and 2009. He recorded 16 goals and 12 assists during his senior campaign.

Tim Barber '16 – Barber started every game for the Orange last season, earning ACC All-Tournament Team honors. He then went on to play for the Denver Outlaws and claimed the 2016 MLL Championship.

Brenny Daly '15 – A 2015 graduate, Daly appeared in 15 games during his career, including recording a goal against Providence in 2013.

Derek DeJoe '16 – DeJoe spent much of the 2016 season as a member of the Orange's first midfield before going on to sign with the Rochester Rattlers. He recorded career highs of 17 goals and six assists in 2016.

Tom Grimm '16 – One of just 25 two-time team captains in program history, Grimm was a standout defensive midfielder for the Orange, playing in 56 career games and also chipping in three goals and six assists.

Drew Jenkins '14 – Jenkins appeared in 60 career games as a defensive midfielder, causing four turnovers and collecting seven ground balls as a senior.

JoJo Marasco '13 – A Tewaaraton Award Finalist in 2013, Marasco was a USILA First Team All-American at 'Cuse in 2013 and one of the players to wear the famed 22 jersey. He then went on to the MLL where he currently plays for the New York Lizards and has 65 career goals. He was once again named an MLL All-Star this season.

Mike Messina '15 – Played in 42 career games as a defensive midfielder in his SU career. As a senior, he finished second on the team in both ground balls (43) and caused turnovers (13).

Defense
John Lade '11 – Started all-45 games he played at Syracuse and won the William C. Schmeisser Award as the nation's most outstanding defensemen. Three-time USILA All-American. Currently plays for the Rochester Rattlers.

Jay McDermott '16 – Played in 46-career games at SU, causing 11 turnovers and collecting 38 ground balls.

Brandon Mullins '16 – Three-time All-American at Syracuse. Finished his career fourth in program history with 76 caused turnovers and also collected 122 ground balls. Was a first round draft pick by the Boston Cannons and was MLL Rookie of the Week following his first career game this season.

LSM
Peter Macartney '15 – USILA Honorable Mention All-American as a senior in 2015. Played in 63 career games and collected 40 ground balls during his last year at SU.

FOGO
Austin Wentworth '16 – Played in nine games in his career, going .500 from the faceoff X as a senior in 2016. Collected four ground balls during his sophomore season.

Goalie
Warren Hill '16 – Played in 16 games in net for SU, posting a 5-3 career record. Career goals against average of just 10.25 with a .454 save percentage.

Bobby Wardwell '15 – UISLA Honorable Mention All-American in 2015 after starting all-16 games. Owns the fourth-best goals against average in program history (9.38) after ranking second in the ACC in the category during his senior year (9.18).
