Jeff Bower had a ton of NBA experience so it's no surprise that he is leaving. Marist has the potential to be a nice head coaching job for someone (but I'm not saying anyone from Syracuse). It's not as good a program as a Siena or a Manhattan or Iona but the fan base is rather rabid. Their gym is a very tough place to play. Bower would have done a great job there if he stayed longer than a year.

As a Marist alum this is very disheartening. Bower leaving after 1 year puts Marist in a terrible predicament. The men's side hasn't had a decent coach since Matt Brady and his departure made him persona non grata with Fox faithful.

I think Marist has to actually spend some $$ on an up and comer. And as you said cliftonparksufan, the fan base is there - you just have to look a the success of the women's program to see that.

Are we ready for the Hopkins to Marist thread yet or should we wait 48 hours?

You have to admit, that's a helluva step up.
