I'm not as connected as you but I've also heard the same and that he's our #1 guy from people that would know. If both of those things are true, and he does NOT end up here, then it's almost undoubtedly because we didn't have enough, not we didn't want to give it up.

Consider this year his first year of pro ball. Based on the schools hosting him he's going to play somewhere that's a step up in competition and exposure no matter what.

Another complication is the huge pay days that are being dished out. It keeps resetting the market. They see guys like Roach getting big money and say, "hey maybe I'm worth more than I originally thought."

Agreed. And on the flip side of that, what are the guys who haven’t entered the portal thinking when they see their team offering X amount of dollars to bring in an unproven commodity. Gotta think it raises the market value all the way around whether a guy is in the portal or not. Also gotta think it messes with team dynamics and could create situations of jealousy, etc.
