Media Poll: No. 1 Maryland, No. 4 USC Remain Undefeated; No. 20 Hopkins Enters

The top eight remain the same in this week’s Media Poll, as the nation’s league rivalries continue to heat up heading into conference tournament time. Undefeated at 16-0, Maryland is joined by USC (17-0) as the lone remaining team in the nation yet to suffer a setback in 2016.

No. 10 Penn enters the top ten – making the jump from No. 14 – after a successful week topping then No. 11 Princeton, 12-7, and Yale, 9-8, in Ivy League action.

No. 20 Johns Hopkins re-enters the top 20, sending Boston College just out of the rankings after upending them 12-9 over the weekend.

After improving to 16-0, Maryland is ranked number one in the IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll for the twelfth week in a row this season. Florida (16-1), North Carolina (13-2), Syracuse (14-4), and Southern California (17-0) continue to follow the Terrapins in the top five. The six through nine spots remained the same, while Virginia (9-7) returned to the top ten for the first time since the week of March 14. As the regular season winds down, and the conference tournament season heats up, there are a few big games on tap for this week: #15 Northwestern at #19 Ohio State, #1 Maryland at #11 Penn State, #14 Penn at #18 Cornell, as well as ACC tournament action pitting #4 Syracuse against #16 T Boston College, #6 Notre Dame against #8 Louisville, and #10 Virginia versus #13 Duke.
