it will be interesting as he speaks in Chicago how much he will talk about the huge spike in crime in that city. I think this is something he could work on when he is out of office and hopefully offer some helpful solutions. He is personally popular although many of his policies lag his personal numbers. I would think focus on this issue could help him post presidency.

He didn't care about the high crime and murder rates in Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, etc. while he was President. Why would he care after he leaves office?

    Is this a rational thought?

He's the President, not a governor.

Saying Obama didn't care about crime and murder is a non-starter for thoughtful discussion.

What correlation does the pres have with certain cities murder rates? I mean any president in the past? And what's the future president going to do about it? What's old golden boy going to do about Queens? So do presidents get credit when crime rates drop in certain cities? You're reaching..

President Obama had eight years to make substantive progress on the issues of poverty, education, crime and violence that affect the predominantly African-American people that reside in our inner cities. He was elected on a campaign of "hope and change." What has changed for these communities as the First Lady proclaims "we are feeling what not having hope feels like?"

I don't know what Trump will do about it. He couldn't possibly do less than Obama if he tried. And before you conspiracy theorists jump on my case, a criticism of Obama is not an endorsement of Trump. Try to shed this binary view of things. Maybe read some of the articles I posted that present a different perspective.

He's a wonderful orator. He's already being missed. It's ironic that those who criticize him for failing to put his words and ideas into practice were the ones who not only worked the hardest to prevent him from doing so, and subsequently complained the loudest that he didn't. So long, Mr. President, thanks for a good run.

Well he did pass the ACA which gave those AA free healthcare.

And then after that point the Republicans had majority and blocked everything.

Did you read any of the articles I linked that offer a different viewpoint? Or will you persist with questions about correlation and causation that serve only to counter an argument I didn't make? I'm not saying President Obama is responsible for crime and murder. I'm saying that, along with other issues in the African American community, he failed to adequately address these things while in office. This isn't a particularly original or controversial opinion in any way. You can treat it as a "gotcha" moment on here or you can broaden your perspective a little bit. Your choice.

You'd certainly be the authority on countering arguments someone didn't make, wouldn't you?

I'm not in here to argue with you about a thread that was closed yesterday. Leave your negativity out of this, troll. Come see me at the tailgate and we'll discuss it.

I wouldn't use the blanket phrase "those African Americans" like you have here but I get your point. I'm not an opponent of universal healthcare. The ACA is good and bad. I'm also not a fan of most Republicans.

    "DO SOMETHING ABOUT GUN VIOLENCE"

"We should make it harder to get guns."

    "NOT THAT YOU IDIOT."
