12. North Carolina — This was a comeback for the ages. Down five goals with 10 minutes to play, the Tar Heels summoned their inner Andy Gibb and spun the Bee Gee's "Stayin Alive" in the huddle. "Feel the city breakin' and everybody shakin', and we're stayin alive, stayin alive, ha ha ha Stayin alive, Stayin alive."

UNC sports information director Dave Lohse, who prefers Broadway show tunes to the Bee Gee's, spent Sunday poring through the archives in an attempt to put the comeback in historical perspective. His research is pending at my deadline. My head hurts just imagining the postgame celebration amongst the team and alums from the 1981, ‘82, ‘86 and ‘91 championships that were recognized at halftime. That's the magic. And that's why you go back to work on Monday eager to do it again this week.

#Embracethegrind lived up to their hash tag, taking 45 shots and receiving gritty play at the face off dot from Stephen Kelly. The Heels are unbeatable when the army of Kellya play well. Patrick Kelly had a hat trick. Luke Goldstock and Steve Pontrello each scored four times.

The Heels live to see another day. They get Syracuse next on Friday at 6 p.m. (ESPNU) in a game that represents an opportunity to improve off a 13-7 loss in the Dome just two weeks ago and strengthen their at-large resume.

Is the ACC suddenly a four-bid league?

11. Syracuse — The Orange are 8-4 and No. 14 in the RPI in advance of Friday nights ACC semifinal with North Carolina. The winner of this tilt makes a strong statement for an at-large bid. The Orange will have wins over Albany, Army, Virginia and North Carolina. They have three overtime losses to Hopkins, Duke and Cornell. Otto is sweating bullets. If that round mound of spirit doesn't show up in Kennesaw, I will be very upset. Mascots and pep bands are great for TV. Bring the sweaty suit and have one of your 60 redshirts that aren’t dressing wear it on the sidelines. #HHH looking to make year #100 memorable.

That loss to Cornell is really stinging right now. Team should be 9-3 with UNC on tap and staring 10 wins in the face.

Agree. With a win over Cornell we're in at this point. Now, Friday's tilt may be a play in game for an at large with the loser out. We'd better be ready to play from the get go on Friday as we're not going to put a beating on UNC like the last game.

College lacrosse rankings and RPI are a farce. SU is ranked seventh with an RPI of 14 and is a bubble team?

Really?

Is any team better than Maryland right now? (As though a 10-8 win over Ohio State is a great win?)

Yes. Denver, Notre Dame and Brown for a start.

Maryland is never going to win a title with that offense, they will keep having good seasons reaching the final four and even the title game but they will continue to get out scored when it matters most.

Andy Gibb? Doesn't this bother anyone else?
You mean the age of the reference, or the fact that he was not in the BeeGees? There aren't any more contemporary references to surviving and then overcoming than 1977?

Why not? Not to get cocky but I like the match-up with UNC. The pressure is on them. I am sure SU won't look past them. Don't think that UNC was looking past us and were on a roll coming into the Dome and we won. Except for a stretch in the third we owned them. GO ORANGE

It was referring that Andy Gibb wasn't one of the BeeGees. Pick a Gibb, any Gibb, except that Gibb.
