Class of 2017 RB C J Holmes (CT) Dismissed from Notre Dame/ Walk on at PSU

Good for him for getting exposure in Connecticut and apparently being a great student by getting admitted to ND & enrolling early.

Wonder if the staff will take a look under the hood...he was really into us early before he blew up last year. Sounds like behavioral problems but he was an early enrollee there so by all accounts a good student.

If a kid gets dismissed is he immediately eligible or is it still transfer rules?

They prob don't touch a kid who is involved with shoplifting but if this is the only dumb mistake an otherwise good kid made maybe Dino gives him a chance.

Stealing is stealing but shoplifting from the mall is much more forgivable than burglarizing another student's room

It’s a good thing it didn’t happen in China. He could’ve ended up playing ball in Lithuania :p

Sounds like he had a secondary role in the theft, kind of like Clarke, so maybe Dino will consider him.

When players are dismissed like that I would presume there are different eligibility rules in play when the schools are considering those players or is the NCAA perspective that it is a form of a "transfer"? In which case transfer rules apply. Does anyone know?

They still need to sit a season. Qaadir Sheppard is an example.

2016: Transferred to Ole Miss in August ... Sat out the season due to NCAA transfer rules.

SYRACUSE (2015): One of 15 true freshmen to play for the Orange ... Appeared in nine games as a reserve defensive end and special teams player ... At Virginia, picked off quarterback Matt Johns late in the first half to record his first career interception ... Made his first career tackle at Louisville (11/7).

I'd have to see a blurry phone photo to judge the security guard's height in relation to Holmes before making any decisions on pursuing him.

Thanks for the info! I thought that might be the case.

My guess: $51,572 + stipend

I remember when at one point we were leading for him and it looked like he was going to commit.

Guess even if he had landed here he wouldn't have been the program defining recruit for Shafer that we all hoped.
