Chandler Jones' Tenacity Off Edge Could Make Him Nice Fit for Patriots Late in First Round

Eagles writer wowed by Jones tape, could Eagles take him at 15

Defensive end Mercilus or Jones for Bears at No. 19

Chandler 5th best DE

If the Bears are looking for a defensive end in the draft, here are others worth considering:
1. Chandler Jones, 6-5, 265, Syracuse: Doesn’t have Whitney Mercilus’ numbers (41/2 sacks in 2011) but has the size, quickness and especially the unique wingspan that often make the difference for elite pass rushers. Projected: Late first to early second round.

Next you have a clear cut running back Curtis Brinkley. Standing at 5’9” 208 lbs Brinkley more so than McClain fits the mold of a prototypical running back in today’s NFL. While headed into his third year, Brinkley has not received the number of carries to show whether he would be a fully capable back or not. He has certainly showed flashes here and there of his potential but if Mathews were to go down could the Chargers depend on him for a steady dose of 15-20 carries a game?

Anyone know how tall Antwon Bailey really is? He's gotta be 5'6 at the most

Don't know if you saw this OE, from ESPN:

San Diego Chargers
sdg.gif

Top needs: OLB, S, CB, RB, OL, DE

Rd 1 (18) OLB Chandler Jones, Syracuse
Rd 2 (49) S Brandon Taylor, LSU
Rd 3 (78) RB Isaiah Pead, Cincinnati

Analysis: The Chargers need an outside 'backer, and Jones is moving up as fast as any player in the draft. He has the size to hold up as a 4-3 defensive end, but I don't think he'll have a tough time working effectively in San Diego's scheme. The Chargers also need help at safety, and the way it lines up Taylor would be the best one available at No. 49. The way the board lined up when I was making all the picks had Pead as a steal in Round 3 versus the Chargers reaching a bit at corner. That's three for four on the top needs, and they can grab a corner later on.

Wait, OLB? Haven't heard this proposal before. It doesn't seem that OLB plays up his strengths.
