We knew he wasn't coming here, but it makes getting a quality JUCO pretty important now.

I saw a tweet that said Officer had a great visit at PSU.

Thats a "damn"!!We need at least one solid player in that grouping. Losing Curtis and in all probability Officer sucks. Give me Ebo and Laray and this is still a huge big time class in quality if not quantity.:p

Really surprised by this one. I knew we weren't going to land him, but I'm surprised it wasn't Wake. They had the last visit and he raved about them, guess his parents have property near the campus too. Nice job Iowa State on this one.

Weird. You'd figure they'd be waving 'em in.

I know - makes me wonder, it's not like PSU recruiting is on fire after the scandal. The only quality recruits they have are guys they've been guilting into not decommitting.

If he was a semi decent prospect, i would have expected them to offer, so I'm beginning to wonder where he even ranks on the SU pecking order.

We weren't in this for a while. Like the last month or so we haven't been in it. Officer is not coming here. Pugh is 99.9% to the NFL. It's going to be a JUCO stopgap or one of our frosh stepping up opposite Hickey next year.

Pretty sure they are limited in the number they can give out. Sounds like he's a Plan B for them.

Aren't they down to 65 schollies after the sanctions?

And he may be for us too. The problem in a lot of this is that people say we whiffed on Officer - did we or have we cooled on him? Officer had a lot of hype early on in the recruiting cycle but who knows what's going on with him. Did the staff lose interest? Did he? Was it mutual? Does anyone even know?

Pretty obvious that we were hard after Curtis because he did visit, he visited by himself, and it was pretty clear that the staff spent some time on him. But Officer's recruitment has been vague at best.

I guess we better hope that omari Palmer et al develop in the offseason as the staff had expected that said I would expect a few jucos also.

You were right the first time. Limited to 65 overall scholarships for the next 4 years.

The other half of the reduction is that they're only allowed 15 initial scholarships (rather than the regular 25) for the next 4 years, which basically means incoming freshman/JUCOs.

Oh ok ... having only 65 means they have to be dead nuts on with recruiting .. no room for mistakes ... and whats worse is they can't be a selector school with all the damage done to their reputation ... no bowls for a while ... they have a tough climb. I think that is why Officer doesn't have an offer yet ... not sure he fills an absolute need and with limited schollies you have to address the most immediate needs first.
