    sorry but i just don't carry a lot of fond memories of my first trimester. in fact no one does.

    I tend to agree with this. In general the type of people that are pro-life are also anti-safety net people. The one exception to this (for me at least) is the catholics. They tend not to speak out of both sides of their mouths on this one like many other denominations do.

    This is a very important point that kind of follows the other thread here about parental rights. I asked in general when does the right of the child supersede those of the parents.

    For me personally I don't think the government should be involved at all on this issue. I don't need anyone telling me what my family cannot and cannot do when it comes to having to face the choices that things like rape, birth defects, etc bring.

    On a side note I find it odd that in the year 2012 people think the government can effectively prohibit things. Be it drugs, sex, abortions or whatever. Prohibition never works and our country has the failed track record to prove it. The so called freest nation in the history of the world already incarcerates it's people at alarming rates so are we willing to start sending doctors and women to prison over this too?
