The off topic forum is almost unbearable to visit.

Any chance of adding a "Politics" forum?

    Amen.

I just put the Off Topic board on ignore, finally.

You learn more about people than you care to. Just would rather know them as SU fans.

even calling it the Politics forum would be a deception. Just call it Rants and Raves. Nobody there is making an effort to convince the other side of anything; mostly, they just repeat their own sides' talking points at each other.

Easy now. I live for the likes I get posting in my own liberal echo chamber.

Put the entire forum on "ignore" and your problem is solved.

I do have the Off Topic section on ignore but it would be nice if we could discuss other things like my wonder Speed Limits in CNY thread.

    I support a Politics forum.

Agreed. A politics forum would help streamline things.

if you've visited the off topic forum and don't agree with the threads/posts then why even open it up? I don't get the desire to close it or name it something else. What threads do you want to post that don't already have a forum to do so? And if you don't care for the politics threads created there you're not forced to open them. I don't know, maybe if there was a separate politics thread some of the folks complaining wouldn't ever open it or post anything :noidea:

Exactly. If the title of a thread even remotely suggests anything you might not want to read, don't click on it. If it turns out that the thread discusses something you didn't expect and don't care to read, close it.

I'm not sure any major changes are necessary either. You now have the ability to ignore posters, threads and entire forums if you want. Not sure how more user-friendly this place can get.

Or you could make another forum easily.
