Summer 2015 Transfer Market

8 days til the transfer window officially opens.

From LFC senior squad:

Officially Out: Johnson, Gerrard, Jones, Aspas
Officially in: Milner, Ings, Bogdan, Origi
Will be out: Borini, Enrique, Coates

Rumored City have been green lighted to pay the 5om asking price for Sterling and we've already got Firmino lined up as replacement. Dream move for me if so for funding and a more complete player at the moment.

Seems we've cooled on Benteke over the asking price and are now looking at Bacca as a cheaper option. Sadly haven't seen us linked to Aubameyang yet but rather now seeing that Arsenal are. He'd be devastating for them with Sanchez, Ozil, Walcott, etc. So much speed to try and defend,

If Can is moving up to midfield as is rumored (and really even if he's not) they need to bring in someone who can play alongside Sakho, Skertel, and Moreno in a back four. Other than that things seem to be shaping up well.

What do you think we are looking at next year?

Mingolet

New Signing, Skertel, Sakho, Moreno

Milner, Can, Henderson

Firmio, Sturridge (going to need someone else good here to fill in when Sturridge is inevitably injured) Coutinho

Solid bench too. Allen, Lucas, Ibe, Lallanna, Markovic, Ings, Origi, (hopefully a top of the line striker like Bacca to split time with Sturridge)

Seems as though we'll end up paying whatever Soton ask for Clyne since we love to buy their players.

Mignolet

Clyne-Skrtel-Sakho-Moreno
------------Can
Milner-------------Henderson
--------- Coutinho
Firmino-----------Sturridge (when healthy)

or you could run Coutinho and Firmino in tandem behind a lone striker

That's a pretty good lineup.

Firmino to Liverpool confirmed barring a medical. 22m base with add ons could go as high as 29m.

I'm a bit stunned as I'm not used to getting players I genuinely wanted in the squad. Still lament missing on Sanchez last year but Firmino is of similar style and quality.

He reminds me of a poor mans Suarez. Hopefully he and Sturridge can do some of the same things SAS did.

Top 4 is going to be extremely difficult to crack this year. Man U and Man City are going to spend boatloads.

United, in particular seems to be going balls out right from the start. If they add Schweinsteiger, Sergio Ramos, Harry Kane and a goal keeper to replace DeGea, that is going to be a hell of a squad, so long as they get a quality keeper. They were already very deep in squad players. Add another few stars along the spine, and that team will be a serious title contender.

City has a problem as long as they have Yaya Toure as their main man in central midfield. He was very inconsistent (to be kind ...) last year, and often seemed disinterested. If they can't get Pogba, I don't see them improving next year under Pelligrini.

I am not thrilled with the Chelsea news so far, barring the late word that we are in talks with Pogba's agent.

As he showed at Copa America, Falcao is a shadow of himself. He is the next Fernando Torres (also of Atletico Madrid!) just waiting to happen. The only way we should be signing him is as the third striker, not the second.

I wish Mourinho had more faith in Loic Remy because he makes good runs, and even when he doesn't strike the ball well, he still seems to scuff it into the net. To me, he is an excellent poacher and if Jose gave him half a chance, he'd be good for 10-15 goals off the bench. I don't know that we'll get that from Falcao, although Mourinho probably figures he has a greater upside than Remy, and if he returned to form he could bag 15-20. If Remy leaves, you can't trust one of the Chelsea kids with Falcao as your only other striker if (when ...) Diego Costa gets injured or suspended again next year.

Our interest in the young Charlie Austin - eh, I get that he's English, and actually, he is the kind of banger than Jose likes up front, but he's not that skillful with the ball at his feet. He's kind of like Demba Ba. If we're going to sign an English player, please don't let it be Raheem Sterling. The kid's head is all screwed up and he's out of control in his private life. A trainwreck waiting to happen. Please let him go to City for 50M. That will make their further pursuit of Pogba most unlikely from a FFP point of view.

Swapping Victor Moses for Asmir Begovic is a great move. Begovic is a really quality keeper and is only 27 years old. Plus they have Jack Butland waiting to go for them, so it makes sense for both clubs.

I like the move for the Baba Rahman from Augsburg for back-up left back. Felipe Luis sold back to Atletico at a slight loss (around 12M or in part as a make-weight to offset the cost of Griezmann) would be good business. We have already cashed in on Oriol Romeu for 6M, Obi Mikel for a similar amount (maybe 8M), Cech for 11M to Arsenal. Salah might go to Spurs for as much a 18M. A couple Italian teams are interested, too. That's 45M from sales.

I would like to see some of the loanees come back into the team, like maybe Mario Pasalic, who is supposed to be a terrific attacking midfielder. We are also making a move for another young Serb midfielder, Kovacic, I think his name is.

Lots of work still to be done. Not thrilled at Alex Song as our other holding midfielder. We are looking at Axel Witsel for a fee in the low 20s, but the best would be Pogba. Team him with Matic as our holding midfield and that would be the best on the planet. Move Fabregas closer to the attack, and you still have Oscar to spell him. Get me Griezmann out wide on the right and we're looking pretty good.

Still going to make a move for another young central defender. Varane unlikely, Stones not much better odds, maybe the new guy they are talking to from the Bundesliga, the African kid. Lots of moves yet to be made.

My dream signings: Ibrahimovic up front, Griezmann on the right wing, Pogba in holding midfield, Stones in central defense, Begovic in goal and Rahman as left back.

I don't who United bring in as long as De Gea leaves. Without him at the back, they are very ordinary. Would be curious to see how Kane would mesh with Shrek as well. Seems they are going after some very talented individuals but I'm not sure how/if they'll mesh together on the pitch.

Latest rumor is United move for Hugo Lloris as DeGea's replacement. Let's say they get him. Then, with all the presumed activity, you've got this kind of lineup:

Lloris

Valencia (replace?) ---- Chris Smalling ------- Sergio Ramos ---------- Luke Shaw / Moreno

Blind / Carrick

Schweinsteiger / Fallaini -------------------- Di Maria

Mata

Rooney ------------------ Kane

Holy crap, that's a great team on paper.

I don't rate Lloris so I'd be a huge fan of that.

I look at that lineup and see an expensive squad full of players that lack size/strength and/or pace.

Lloris, very ordinary keeper IMO. Nothin great.

Well, IMO you have plenty of size with Ramos, Fellaini, Smalling and Kane. DiMaria is very pacey. You need a right winger. Mata gives you guile and unlocking defenses. I like that lineup better than yours.

The first four mentioned lack pace, dimaria Is a bit frail, and if Mata was that worthwhile you'd have kept him at Stamford Bridge. For the money they've spent, and would potentially spend to add Ramos, that lineup doesn't strike fear in anyone like you'd expect.

Chelsea play physical and with pace, Arsenal have speed to burn, City are frail at the back but have more talent than they could possibly use up front and on the wings... and yet United have outspent them all of late and are tough to pinpoint what facet of the game they excel at for all that money. Which of their players would walk into the Chelsea lineup? Could ask the same of Liverpool but we aren't in the same financial stratosphere of any of those four at the moment.

Some rumors going around that Liverpool's bid for Clyne has been accepted. It's a refreshing change to see Liverpool identify signings and close the deal early. Makes me optamistic even though I think somebody is going to be the best team to ever moss the top 4 next year, and it could very well be Liverpool.

Rumours are that Sevilla are dropping out of the race for Konoplyanka whom Liverpool wanted a few months ago but couldn't secure the move, Ayre even flew to ukraine and still couldn't get it done.

I expect that Konoplyanka will sign with Liverpool or Tottenham he's a free agent....

I like Clyne for the right price but I'm not sold that he will be the answer we need. Suppose it would help if I knew what formation we're planning which is any ones guess at this point. Seems we are keying on versatility vs specialists so he could slot at RB or wing back. I saw we upped our bid but nothing accepted yet that i've seen.

Agree on loving the early action. End up not being held ransom late AND gives players time to join in preseason and bed in.

Seems as though we've moved on which is odd being we were willing to pay and now could have him on a free. To be fair though, we've added 3 bodies in attack since then and need to move some dead weight before adding too much more. Also, our next signing should be a recognized striker vs another wing player.

Going to a be an interesting year coming up. If Cech deal is closed then gunners go straight to looking at strikers, defensive middies and maybe a CB.

Well now that cech is a gunner things get interesting. Rumblings around vidal have surfaced which pairing him with his countryman sanchez could be a good pairing. It also may allow alexis to be even more attack minded than he already is. All that said even with the longshot vidal comes to the emirates we need another striker. Giroud isnt enough and is a loose cannon at times.

Chelsea apparently making a move for Arda Turan of Atletico Madrid. A very solid player, scrappy, plays on both sides of the ball. Plays on the right wing, so he would fit, and is a Mourinho type of player. Has past history working with Diego Costa and Radamel Falcao, so he checks a lot of the right boxes, but I would have preferred either Griezmann (more goals) or Koke (more assists, chances created). Still, not a bad pick-up at the right price.
