SU's women lacrosse players are second class citizens ...

Couldn't they have stayed in Utica?
They could have, except for the fact (as OX posted earlier in the thread) the NCAA mandates all teams stay within 30 miles of the venue where the game is to be played.

And we all know how flexible the NCAA is... ;)

Couldn't they have stayed in Utica? Maybe the Radisson near the Thruway, a quick shot out to the Dome. Used to take a school bus from Whitesboro to OHSL "outposts"(we were the outpost, actually) such as Oswego, Auburn, Central Square, and Fulton and have legs for the game, no problem. Wouldn't think their team bus would be terribly uncomfortable for a quick stretch of road they would have needed to travel anyway.

Perhaps I'm being naive comparing high school to a D1 program. I don't know the logistics that would go into game day prep. But it would have seemed a more fair option for Syracuse.

NCAA requires that the hotel has to be within 30 miles of campus.

55 miles from Syracuse to Utica.

It's over 35 miles from Syracuse to the Turning Stone.

My perception is based on time rather than distance, apparently. I've since learned to control my highway speed.

There must be more to this then we know. Quick Google Map distance marker shows 28.15 miles from TURNING POINT RESORT to DOME..Straight-line! But then doing some point to point mapping, campus is definitely within 30 miles from front door of TP Resort...Google can't be wrong?

I would guess that the NCAA would prefer not to have their Student-Athletes staying at a casino for two or three days.

Graduation issues aside...I agree that the women's team gets no respect. As an alumn and father to a son and daughter that play and love the game, I try to plug SU to them every chance I get. We live in Maryland so I have an uphill struggle with my daughter who will play High School lax with Cathy Reese's Husband as coach. Everytime the women win a big game , go onto Syracuse.com and try to find an article...not only is there typically NOTHING on the front page, its difficult to even navigate and find an article. They deserve better.
