Below are Christian Swezey's annual Way-ahead Top 20 rankings (plus four on the outside). Swezey has led the charge on the way-ahead rankings, publishing for more than five years. Player years are for 2016.
7. Syracuse (13-3, lost in NCAA Quarterfinals)
Final top 20: No. 4
A huge senior class departs. The Orange have been dangerous as an underdog in the past; certainly it’s a safe bet the lackadaisical off-ball defense gets cleaned up in 2016. Having seen a Syracuse team clearly deserving of a No. 1 seed earn a No. 2 seed instead, I wonder if it’s time those “friends of Syracuse lacrosse” gave the NCAA back that lost trophy.
