Join our team in the fight against rare diseases by supporting our Uplifting Athletes Lift For Life challenge.

Through this fundraising event, we are raising research funds and awareness for Anaplastic Astrocytoma disease. The Syracuse Chapter of Uplifting Athletes was founded in 2012 in honor of former Orange punter and team captain Rob Long, who overcame his battle with the rare disease anaplastic astrocytoma.

A tax-free donation to Uplifting Athletes Lift For Life is essential as our team continues to raise awareness and dollars in the fight against the one of 7,000 rare diseases that affects fewer than 200,000 Americans at any given time.

To find out more about Uplifting Athletes and other Lift For Life events, visit upliftingathletes.org and be sure to join the conversation on our Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook pages.

Left this message with my donation

"Proud to be a Syracuse alumnus and booster. Even more proud to see our players involved in activities like this. Go Orange!

Thank you from Orange Nation and syracusefan.com."

Donations listed on the site haven't moved and the donation I made last Saturday hasn't hit my card yet. Anyone know if there is a problem with the site?

The total has increased. It is now at 330. Just not being donated to individual teams.,

OK. Must have done something wrong. Just processed again and bumped it up to $344 with the first contribution to Team Franklin.

I couldn't pick just one team so I sent all 8 teams a $44 donation. They caught me in a great mood, lol.

Seriously love what the Syracuse student athletes get involved with.

Nice Dnyr!

I'm really surprised how little support this seems to be receiving. Haven't seen any media coverage either other than syracusefan.com! Where are the other blogs, Post Standard, local TV, etc. With all the coverage of the misdeeds of entitled-minded athletes it always irks me when efforts like this go un- or under-reported.

The Post Standard doesn't cover this sort of story. Maybe they'll chime in if they don't reach their goal of $10K, or if another school does something similar with greater financial success.

3rd Annual Syracuse Lift For Life Open to Public

The Syracuse Chapter of Uplifting Athletes will hold its annual Lift For Life event July 25.

Lift For Life is the signature fundraising event for the Uplifting Athletes nationwide network of 25 college football student-athlete led chapters.

The Syracuse Chapter will continue its mission of raising awareness and research dollars in support of anaplastic astrocytoma, the chosen rare disease of the Syracuse Chapter, by holding its third Lift For Life on Saturday, July 25 at 1 p.m. This event will be open to the public and held at Coyne Stadium.

This is the first year the Syracuse Lift For Life will be open to the public. The previous two years the Syracuse Chapter held a private event. Fans are encouraged to come out to the Field Hockey field and support the 2015 Orange football team as they help inspire the rare disease community.

Well here you go folks. You can get a look at the players and help out a great cause.

Don't be so sure.
