Syracuse to be Featured at National Lacrosse Center

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The history and tradition of lacrosse at Syracuse University is among the richest in collegiate sports. Both the men's and women's programs are perennial national championship contenders and they have produced some of the sport's most iconic players and legendary coaches. That tradition will be highlighted outside the National Lacrosse Center when it opens mid-2016 in Sparks, Md.

Syracuse is one of 16 schools featured on pillars that will line the path that will extend between the turf field and stadium and the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association building at US Lacrosse Headquarters.

Syracuse's pillar will include a plaque highlighting the history of both the men's and women's programs along with the Block S logo. The men's team has won more NCAA Championships than any other Division I team in history and reached the Final Four for 22 straight years from 1983 to 2004. The Orange women's squad has played in four consecutive Final Fours and has advanced to the national championship game in two of the past four seasons.

The Orange Club has formed a committee to help raise funds for the $50,000 naming opportunity. Fans who would like to participate in the program to have Syracuse proudly represented at US Lacrosse Headquarters can call the Orange Club Office at 315-443-1419 or send a check to the Orange Club Office at 810 Nottingham Rd., Syracuse, NY 13210.

The new US Lacrosse Headquarters will house more than 80 US Lacrosse staff members and includes a 500-seat stadium.
