Syracuse lacrosse opens ACC play against No. 5 Virginia (5 things to know) (PS: Mink)

Syracuse and Virginia put unblemished 3-0 records on the line noon Sunday in a top-five matchup at the Carrier Dome.

It's the 17th time both schools are ranked in the top five heading into their matchup. Virginia holds a narrow 16-14 all-time record against the Orange and has won nine of the last 12 regular-season meetings. The home team has won each of the last five pairings.

Both offenses have the firepower to put up a big number on Sunday, and if recent history is any indication, the margin of victory is likely going to be slim.

Fifteen of the last 23 games have been decided by two goals or less.

Any thoughts as to just how good SU is this year? I'm not that knowledgeable but like that we're much improved in face-offs, one of the few stats I watch. Virginia seems to turn the ball over less than we do and has given up more goals, but I'm not sure just how to assess our strengths.
