The all-inclusive Rutgers Basketball dumpster fire thread...

It'll all turn around once Briscoe commits - unless he choose some other vaunted program like Seton Hall

And then there will be a complete 360 on the turnaround when he is ineligible and then declares for the draft a year later having never played. Isn't that how the story plays out with most of those high profile recruits that commit to Providence or Rutgers.

Somewhere RutgersAl is taking solace in the fact that Rutgers outscored Memphis by 3 in the second half.

This is too good to not post! They have literally told their fans to give up on having a successful bball team!
I hope you read some of the comments. Solutions like playing in Newark until they can build a new facility. New facility has to be at least 15-16,000 seats. (Umm you're only getting 4,425 fans per game, why do you need 10,000+ empty seats?) . No response to why NJIT is able to build a new $100 Million basketball facility? Hate to be around there once their football program joins the basketball program in holding up the bottom of their new league.

The real issue is the subsidy.

The article says 29MM but it was as high 47MM a couple of years ago which, at the time, was the highest in the country and the highest ever.

The subsidy comes out of the general student fund which why it is such a hot potato.

It is unclear how much of it is related to the Stadium expansion but Rutgers does have almost 100MM of athletically-related debt.

They blew their wad on the stadium and the team is still mediocre and now they don't feel they can fund raise and they have no money to use on a basketball arena.

Maybe they could play at the dome and we could retire Keyth Hues and Errl Dunkin's jerseys...
