- We beat a good team. They were 25-9 last year and are the Patriot League favorites. They are a very good fundamental team, very patient and passed the ball well. They took better care of the basketball than most of our opponents, (12 turnovers- only two unforced). They forced us to win playing half-court basketball and we did. The mark of a strong team is that they can win different types of games against different types of opponents and we can do it.
- Rakeem Christmas had his best game, even better than that one that got him on ESPN’s top ten twice. He played only 14 minutes but scored 10 points and had 5 rebounds and two blocks. Matt Park said that he’s actually got the longest wingspan on the team and he’s learning how to use it.
- Fab Melo is starting to show us some moves in the paint. I’ve said all year that one thing this team lacks is an inside scorer but Fab is developing like time-lapse photography. JB said in the presser that they are now teaching him what they wanted to teach him last year but he lacked the stamina to learn and develop. This guy could turn out to be amazing.
- Kris Joseph and Scoop Jardine should be the leaders on this team and they are now performing so consistently that we take them for granted. Tonight they combined for 31 points, 5 rebounds, (could be a little more), 7 assists, 3 blocks and 3 steals. Ho-hum.
- Michael Carter-Williams struggled early but JB had obviously decided to use this game to get him more experience and he fought through his problems to make some good plays down the stretchy. He wound up with 6 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists.
- We did very well on the defensive boards to night getting 26 of 38 Bucknell misses. It made up for the lack of turnovers.
- Yes it was against a Patriot League team, but we probably ran our half court offense the best we have all season.
