While trump has gone on daily Twitter rants about Meryl Streep, telling Americans they are idiots and stupid, kissing Putins ass, ripping on our IC, etc, the GOP has been playing a little game to slam through trumps cabinet picks. Many of them haven't turned in paperwork, had ethics reviews completed, had FBI background checks completed or generally not been vetted yet. Yet the GOP senate and McConnell are trying to push them through at record speed. Many hearings are this week.

Here is what McConnell had to say 8 years ago and a month later than this week.

Not a Trump voter but I don't know of anyone - on this board, or anywhere else, that like Mitch McConnell. He is almost as bad as that cretin Harry Reid - who thankfully is no longer in the senate.

That being said, its the dems job to push back on this. It's there own hubris that put them in a position where the filibuster is not an option. I don't have much sympathy.

They think Bees is unhinged for being concerned about Trump's refusal to adhere to the law.

I think an elected president should get the people he wants. Especially if that person intends to gut the department of education. Like usual, this is much ado about nothing.

What was the name of the party that eliminated the filibuster rule? Just more whining. Wa wa!

They can still be filibustered. But you know this.

Edit - This was a response to dasher's poorly quoted post.

So it's the dems fault that Trump puts up incompetent people. Got it.

You said that elected Presidents should get the people they want. I asked if that included Supreme Court nominees. How about answering that question.

I haven't seen anyone nominated that is incompetent, but coming from someone that thinks Hillary was a goddess, I'm not surprised that we have different opinions on competency.

Yes, with consent of the senate. Isn't that how it works?

Well, as you know, all of those appointments that we were just talking about needed the consent of the Senate so that answer is in direct conflict with your statement that a elected President should get the people he wants. In other words, your answer made little sense. Either a elected President should get the people they want or the Senate should advise and consent. You can't have it both ways. Unless or course, you are a right winger and the rules are different depending on whether you are a dem or a Repub.

I'm not surprised that you would hold in high regard Trump's nominees.

The senate still needs to consent. Trump hasn't changed the constitution yet.

It amazes me that even Trump's most vile, disgusting, asinine, and/or illegal antics don't seem to matter to some folks. If Clinton was the Teflon president, Trump is figuratively and literally going to be the "red copper pan" president (including the hype generated on TV)

That's a dangerous and undemocratic method. Guess you don't know the reasons for background checks and ethics reviews.

That isn't the point. You said that a elected president should get the nominees that they want. I asked about Supreme Curt nominees and you pivoted to advise and consent. Which is needed for those other appointments. You as you know, are setting two standards in an vain attempt to justify the Repub Senate not doing it's job with regard to Garland.
