WML Project: Jack Dempsey and Muhammed Ali

7/11/65 Jack Dempsey He comes in at 18:50 and gets KO’d at 19:50. He didn’t think much of the second Ali-Liston fight that had just taken place.
Jack had been on the show on 4/1/51 but that is a “lost episode”. (There’s a You-Tube post mislabeled with this date- it’s actually his 7/11/65 appearance.)

Arlene has a great line about the speed with which they guess him.

9/19/65 Muhammed Ali who had a higher opinion of the Ali-Liston fight but did not get asked about it here, was on WML. (He’s at 21:30.)

Muhammed came back on the color, syndicated version of WML. This time he disguises his voice better and fools the panel, although they are given little time to figure out who he is, one of the many weaknesses of the revamped show.


Despite the You-Tube title, this show was taped 10/29/68 and first broadcast 1/10/69. He did another show, not on You-Tube, that was taped 11/5/70 and shown 2/12/71. We know it’s not this one as he had won his court case and resumed his career by then.
