Wrapping up class of 2020

So, with the recent commitments of the two QBs, we've filled an important roster need. Seems as though we have 4 remaining scholarships left. How do people see things unfolding?

Chase Atkinson seems likely, especially given that he's taking his OV this weekend.

Do we leave some open for grad transfers or JUCOs? Are there any other HS prospects out there we are actively pursuing?

Atkinson already visited, last weekend, hopefully he stays on board. we have a confirmed visitor for this weekend who we have a great chance of landing, Jahad Carter a DB who was once a Va Tech commit but went prep for a year. assuming we keep Atkinson and land Carter, we should have 2-3 slots open(assuming a bit of attrition) for grad transfers/JUCO

I'd like an impact WR - 6-3, 220 with 4.4 40 speed.

Also, would like a 6-6, 310 DT that can help with stopping the run.

Wouldn't hurt to have a 6-2, 230 LB that can play right away and help us.

Obviously the staff would take a high-end WR transfer/JUCO anytime. But we already have 2 quality 2020 WR recruits - Williams coming in January and Alford in the fall. At QB, Dino has plugged the backup role with 2 commits just in the past few days. So the remaining priority would appear to be at DT. While we do have some talented guys who could develop into the position, I would love to see us snag a Slayton-size transfer/JUCO DT - the staff could offer immediate snaps.

Got it -- so, two spots left [counting Atkinson as already being in the fold], with a high probability of one of those spots being claimed by Carter.

This would give us four commitments to sign next week [the two QBs, Atkinson, and Carter].

Leaving one for the coaching staff to either use before signing day [a DT?], or hang onto to see if anyone shakes loose as a fifth year transfer option.


EDIT: or maybe they use it, and then as natural attrition takes place as spring semester unfolds [and it will -- there's always a player who flunks out, gets medically disqualified, decides to "retire," decides to transfer in search of more ample playing time, etc.] more slots will open for grad transfers.

Yup...plus we have an upcoming small senior class. Actually helps to add 3 more seniors.
