this amazing story reads like a hollywood screenplay. smugglers and drug gangs, payoffs to corrupt officials, shakedowns and threats to loved ones . . . by some accounts, Puig has already paid $1.3 million to the gangs who got him out of Cuba and they are shaking him down for more. At least one person has already been murdered execution style.

Puig plays with reckless abandon mostly because that's all he knows, but maybe partly because he knows each day might be his last.

He's one of today's most fascinating athletes, hands down.

He's awesome to watch, even when he does something wrong its usually spectacular . . . between him & Mike Trout, our region has the two most exciting young players in the game

I have family in Cuba. They will do whatever it takes to get out of that hell hole. I had a cousin who risked his life to get here on a home made boat. Unfortunately for him, the engine on the boat gave out and the coast guard picked him up and took him back to Cuba. He is in the process of saving money so that he can try it again.
