of course man to man is better...looks like JB has carried the zone to the pinnacle of college basketball...geez

so you think we should be playing m-m or predominately zone?

This post confuses me. Can you elaborate a little?

If this is obvious to everybody else, sorry... it's New Year's eve! :)

I guess we've not had that debate yet. :D

I've been noticing it too. Every single team is playing zone now. Some more than others, but you only need to watch about 5 minutes of any game to see at least one of the teams playing zone. Including traditional man-to-man schools.

I missed the part where those teams played exclusively zone.

Oh wait, they switched it up as the situation called?

Yeah, that is the point missed by the original poster unless he is trying to simply employ a strawman. Other than blue curtain and Igor, I dont think there are posters who have stated the zone should be junked or that it should not be the primary defense.

The poster may have been better served by stating something to this effect...

"The zone was at one time considered nothing more than a gimmick defense, or a defense to be employed by an inferior opponent, however Syracuse and coach Boeheim have transformed the defense into a primary weapon and other big time programs have finally caught on and are utilizing it at times as well."
