Class of 2017 Hameir Wright (NY) to Washington

Again, I wish Hop well too. Maybe '18 will be the magic year where all goes as planned(or not as miserably as the recent past) and Wright becomes someone we lose interest in. Lets hope so. My point of the post wasnt so much HW in particular, as it is was to saying that Hop can legitimately compete against SU in recruiting and as pull East Coast recruits as well, which a different poster(not you) said was not possible. Maybe he won't win any battles, but it baffles me that some refuse to admit it is a real possibility. I suppose I should choose my wording more carefully around here, and repeat that I am rooting for Hop to do well overall. I just recognized a new competitor from an unnatural region, with likely as many head to head matchups as anyone else, maybe more? The selfless part of me is hoping nothing comes of it.

Hop will use his connections and relationships in the east for 17, 18 and some 19 but then he should be established out west. He is a ways away from getting a prime time east coast recruit SU wants unless it was someone he established a relationship with while at Cuse.

I dont necessarily disagree with any of that, and have already read it multiple times. I guess the first part I would focus on is the last phrase in your post. Would Zegarowski fit in there(assuming Red doesnt park one over the fence with Carey)? I guess Im wondering how many players that last phrase might possibly include. I stand by my assertion that far too many assumptions are made on this board, as well as in our society in general. I enjoy looking at possibilities, and posting alternative point of views that often go unconsidered on here. I'm open to all possibilities, including that the recruiting benefitted from Hop leaving. It's not about being pro or anti Hop, it's about being true to myself and calling them as I see them. LGO!

Man alive. UW may be the 2nd best team in the PAC 12 next year. I'm worried for your Trojans sobecuse.

Ha. Nah, Trojans should be loaded with Bennie Boatwright and Chimeize Metu coming back. Also they have Charles O'Bannon Jr. (No. 28 ESPN 100) coming in and Duke transfer Derryck Thornton who sat out last year. Enfield has got it going big time there.

Congratulations to both Hameir Wright and Mike Hopkins/U of Washington. While I am happy with with the summer Commits for Syracuse, I really thought that Hameir would come to Syracuse in 2018. I hope that Hameir does well in 2018 and beyond and that he is able to showcase his talent and skills in the PAC-12.

I know I'm just messing with you. Zona and USC will be loaded but after that UW could be right there. UCLA and Oregon lost everything

The thing that confuses me about this recruitment is that Wright told some college ball reporter back in March that he'd be more inclined to go to Cuse with JB remaining the HC for the foreseeable future, as opposed to Hop. I know Hop was his primary recruiter here. But how is he now fine with Hop as the HC at UW? I mean, great for Hop and all. But wut?

These kids are nothing but kids so nothing is a surprise these days. If he wants to go all the way to the West Coast to play in 2017 so be it. He almost could have had his choice of equally if not better schools academically and basketball-wise to choose from that were a lot closer to home. Oh well. So be it. Good luck in your career.

Are you sayingWright is Wrong

It's pretty obvious hop wants to screw syracuse.
I guess you are right.
Hop took one player that Syracuse wanted but did not have room for in 2017. That said, Hop did not have room for him either (no scholarship available) but he is going to make room for him somehow.

Fwiw I don't think UW will be right there. They were horrible last year.

At the Federation Tournament in Glens Falls this year, after Albany Academy had won the state title, I watched JB wait around for nearly 30 minutes after the game, patiently watching from the stands as Wright celebrated with well-wishers, etc., down on the Civic Center floor. While JB did speak briefly with Wright's coach, when Wright left the floor, he merely looked up at JB and barely nodded before continuing to the locker rooms. No conversation took place. I found it odd that JB would hang around for that long just for that brief interaction. Quite clearly, JB had a more than a passing interest in Wright. At the time, it appeared that SU wanted him for 2017. But then Wright said he was going to prep school. So then we seemingly moved on to Marek D. Now Marek D. may turn out to be better than Wright. And Dean F. has mentioned that Wright was not playing that well in the EYBL this spring. But quite clearly, Hopkins was able to get Wright to do something that SU hoped for but was unable to do - get him into their class of 2017. Does that indicate that - in this case - JB was out-recruited by Hopkins?

And Dean . has mentioned that Wright was not playing well in the EYBL

Also mentioned that "we" had cooled off here. "We" weren't out-recruited by anyone.

Love Hop tho, good for him for getting a target.
