An Early Look at the Top NYS Prospects for 2018

Update. More than 20 players from the class of 2018 are reported to have offers now to D1 schools. Ruckert, Jones, White and Cruickshank are all national recruits.

Also have included early looks at the classes of 2019 and 2020. Trying to use pdfs this time. When you download the files, your pdf reader should be able to resize them as needed to make them readable.

Looks great, Tom. Thanks!

BC got a commit from Kyiev Bennermon, a DT out of Poughkeepsie. He's not on the list. What do we know about him?

BC has been all over NY... P's been all over CNY, not sure if he has Downstate area too... They seem to be hitting it hard in NY.

Is 2018 the deepest NYS class since the 1980s? We could have 25-30 D-1 signees.

He was named 2nd team defense all state class B as a junior. Spackenkill is located just south of Poughkeepsie in Dutchess County. Not a football factory.

He was primarily a basketball player but ate himself into a football player during his junior season. Classic late bloomer who may or may not develop into a D1 player.

Spackenkill's Bennermon commits to Boston College

Looks good. Not many big boys huh?

So if White commits, we'll have received commitments from 3 of the top 7 NYS prospects from this class (according to sutomcat's list, which as we know is as good as gold!).

I'd say that's pretty good. Missed out on top 2 but it's a solid start.

Top 2 went to Ohio State, #5 Paul Woods we passed on. I don't think the OSU kids are realistic yet or in most years, head to head we may grab one in every 3 or 4 attempts even when we are back on the rails.

Cruickshank is probably the biggest realistic loss in the top 7 but we've recruited WR very well in this class despite him going elsewhere.

Trill and Qadir are really promising. 2 kids that would have gone out of state to top 15 programs in the past.

Agreed - not condemning anyone about the top 2. Very happy with the progress and looking forward to what is in store with the players that are in the program and the ones that are committed.

Update:

BC took Tyler Days from CNS, a 6'1 CB that almost no one has heard of. SU was interested in a CB from CNS with great speed and bad grades. Days is not that guy. They also took Elijah Jones and the already mentioned QB Matt Valecce and DT Kevin Bennermon.

UConn has taken a OL from Schenectady named Liam Maloney, a DB from Brooklyn named Shamel Lazarus and a skinny WR from LI named Heron Maurisseau. Maloney and Maurisseau are really off the grid.

Temple took a DE from Brooklyn named Antonio Colclough and the already mentioned Brooklyn WR Sean Ryan.

Rutgers took player of of Brooklyn no one has ever heard of named Kessawn Abraham, along with Scott, Woods and Lacewell. Anderson was probably the most notable player they took.

Maryland, Penn State and Pitt passed on NYS this year. Unusual.

Anyway, congrats to all who got scholarships. All told, I believe the number of scholarships to major schools is over 20 again. Well done.

Not bad -- we potentially land 3 out of the top 7 you rated, Tomcat. And if you factor out those elite top 2 that we normally wouldn't get anyway, then we "landed" 3 out of 5 that were more in our wheelhouse.

Improving. Once we start winning, we're going to do even better.

Don't get me started.

Don't get me started.

Have to win, then the elites will view us differently.

We've got the right guy at the helm, the right staff, and the right system to turn heads. They've already made impressive gains on the recruiting trial, despite winning only 4 games.

Babers will get it done. Of this, I have zero doubt.

? for Bees, Tom or other locals. Liverpool has a RB who is in the Olympic boxing program. Anyone know about him?

Rutgers just got a commit from DE Matt Thomas out of Midwood HS in the Brooklyn. Don't see him listed in the Top 50. Is Rutgers grabbing at whoever they can get?

2 4 7 has him as the 15th ranked player in NY with offers from Towsen, Buffalo, Lehigh, Maine, Temple and WF. Hmmmm...

No one on the early list from the number one ranked team in NY state in 2016. Three Juniors on the team were All-State, two in the class of 2018 have FBS offers.

Yes. Their recruiting has collapsed and they apparently have no choice now but to load up on FCS level players.

Who are you talking about? If you know of players that deserve mention, list their names and accomplishments. This thread exists to promote NYS kids as college prospects...
