I really thought we were at a stage where

we would be happy to just keep the guys that we already had verbals from. After last night, I want a little more. Anyone have any big names that we are still flirting with?
The big hole in the class is at QB. I would speculate if a highly rated QB becomes available, SU might look attractive as a new landing spot...

I would even be happy getting some of the higher rated JUCO kids. Minus any of the drama (trouble makers, bad grades, and criminals) to go with them. I want to get a 5 star after that win.

IMO we need more DTs. That being said, unless we go the JUCO or grad transfer route, I don’t see anyone on the horizon.

Dino said in his post game pressed that he was going to see a recruit today. Do we know who?

I think you need to plan for Slayton to enter the draft.

I agree. If it were me I'd be gone because he's ready. Selfishly, I'd love him to stay but he will be hearing from the guru's soon enough about his draft potential.

Depending on what they think they have in Clayton Welch it may almost be worth it to pass on QB this class unless they are able to flip a stud QB late. By now all the good QB's are picked over. Pass this year and start working on 2 studs for 2018.

I wish they could attract a stud JC RB. Maybe a OLB as well.

For the PG market I would look at WR, OLB, RB.

There is absolutely no way Dino shouldn't start to be able to attract 4 star QB's and WR's on a regular basis.

I'm not so sure. He's a very good player. I don't think he's a guy that will get buzz like that though.

Yea we don't need him pulling a Ron Thompson. I know Ron had some serious injury issues and went through several coaching changes, but these kids who are going to graduate this year always make me nervous when it comes to leaving too soon. Personally, i'm with you. I don't see the buzz for Slayton. I think he would be better served putting his name on the map this year so people know who he is, and then go out and absolutely crush it next season. Best case scenario he goes at the very end of the draft if he leaves this year. That may even be generous.

I think Thompson left because of the injuries and that he knew last year was going to be a tough year.

Slayton is a different situation. If Slayton comes back, we'll have the entire DL returning (hypothetically). That doesn't happen.

The second level is where I worry. Franklin & Bennett have been playing at an extremely high level. I know Fagan was a top recruit, and Henderson is supposed to be pretty good too. Just worried about that unit for next year.

Secondary should be fine. Frederick/Bradshaw/Dowels/Foster/Cordy plus Carl Jones, Devon Clarke if he makes it, plus the true freshmen this year redshirting (Coley/Melifonwu).

Future is bright.

I dunno, that seems like wishful thinking. Thompson was good but he was a tweener. Slayton is an animal

We'll see. And why did you have to use the word Buzz? Now I know Slaton's gone because he'll have to get a life.

Slayton is the most NFL ready kid on the roster. Way more so than Dungey who people are now thinking might declare. My guess is that Dungey comes back to make a heisman run and Slayton declares. Hope they both stay though. If a couple of linebackers step up, next year could be real special.

Whoever thinks dungey is going to declare is wearing some serious orange colored glasses. It would be incredibly unwise for him to do that not only because of the other QBs coming out, but because he has yet to play a whole season and needs to work on his arm some more.

Slayton isnt even on the radar of sites yet.. He could declare, if you look at lists he isnt in most top 10, and many lists that have 7-8 show those last 2-3 as 7-8th round or free agents.. he would have to blow up to even get drafted.

Dungey is going to get criticized and downgraded for being a spread QB even if he has a monster senior year, let alone after this year.

I really want to see a handful of JUCO's at the Pierce/Alton Robinson level in this class, specifically at positions of need. We get that, it will really put us in a position to do some damage in the conference next year. DT, DB, maybe an OL as well would be huge.
