NFL Thread - 2018

Toughest division in football since its inception in 1970.

That includes the Redskins who either should be contracted or renamed the Washington Generals until Dan Snyder either dies or sells the team.

Leave it to a Pats fan to pick 2002 realignment as a line of demarcation.

Since 2002, do you know how many years an AFC East team not named NE has won 10 or more games?

Six. Jets won 10 or more 4 times, Dolphins - 2, Bills - 0.

The AFC East has enabled NE's dynasty by virtue of granting them 5-6 auto wins since 2002.

And the rest of the NFL hates them for it.
I picked 2002 strictly because it was when the Texans joined the NFL.
The Patriots first title is left out and 2 other SB appearances.
Plus the Fins history and Bills 4 in a row isn’t included.
I picked 2002 because of it creating a balanced 16 AFC 16 NFC with four 4 team division and the salary cap being hard.

Also you are wrong about 6 auto wins. The Patriots have gone undefeated in division play 1 time since 2002 which was 2007.
AFC East actually plays NE tougher than the other divisions. Buffalo is the only team NE has owned. Miami and NYJ typically play tough games and win their fair share. NE is 3 games under .500 in Miami since 2002.

Guessing it is over compensation for the leg that he came back too soon from. I am surprised he has played as long as he has this season. I like Wentz despite him being an Eagle and hope he has not done himself permanent damage.

Yeah people forget he tore his ACL and MCL.

A byproduct of playing one of the Bills/Jets/Dolphins late in the year when they have little to no incentive to win.

I hate the stupid lazy narrative the AFC East is why NE is good. Those teams have been stupid on there own.
With Brady at quarterback, New England is 51-16 against the NFC. That’s a .761 winning percentage. Not as high as the Patriots' winning percentage in their division (.797). But that .797 isn’t as high as the Patriots' winning percentage when playing teams from the AFC North (.833), the AFC South (.818), the NFC East (.816) or the NFC North (.850)

You realize the Patriots basically own everyone but the Broncos in Mile High, and the Giants in SBs.

They are 11-2 against Pittsburgh
8-1 against Baltimore
6-3 against Kansas City

Their division does better than a lot of the contenders.
Pittsburgh has had the sad sack Browns and Bengals every year.
It’s not NE’s fault they own Pittsburgh who has been the second best team over that stretch.

The Dolphins cost the Patriots SB 50 by beating them week 17 in 2015.
That win gave Denver HFA and that is why they beat NE in the AFC title game.
The 2-11 Dolphins beat the 12-1 Patriots in 2004 on MNF which helped give Pitt HFA that year.
The AFC East teams play NE harder than teams in other divisions they draft specifically to beat NE.
The Bills have been dominated by the Pats but not the Fins/Jets.

Alsacs - I'm not saying the AFC East sucking is what made the Patriots good.

Brady and Belichick built the Pats dynasty; I'm not questioning their dominance.

I'm saying their level of dominance was aided significantly by playing in a clown show of a division.

(And deflating balls, stealing signals, filming walk-throughs, etc)

He made 3 errors on one thing.
San Diego Chargers
Then Hunter Henry who has been on IR the whole year.
Then Derrick Johnson hasn’t been on the Chiefs all year and is a FA.

Must be why it's called First Take. I doubt anyone has had that take on the game yet.

HEY

Tannehill’s injuries are understated in how badly it’s effected the phins. Our fault for not moving on? Maybe. But he looks alright now.

This will be interesting to see play out if true:

There's been a lot of complaints about their medical staff and apparently it's the same staff the Sixers use.

I only went back to 2002. If I was SWC I would have gone back to SB 1 and included teams performances in games under 32 degrees, indoors etc.

Titans 28
Giants 24

Ballgame.

Holy cow. What an ending. Congrats Philip Rivers!

No kidding, I love the compete in Philip Rivers. I've had him every year in a fantasy draft for as long as I can remember. What a freaking awesome win!

edit: No Keenan Allen or Melvin Gordon, and they lost Austin Ekelar early. The whole team feeds off their leader!
