SOme quick thoughts on the game:

- Rehfus and Solomon were shadowed closely. Both contributed but their larger contribution may be that they took defenders out of play.
- Voight was freed up because REhfus and Solomon were shadowed. He had more room, largers spots where he could take shots.
- SU still needs to shoot more high to low, too many shots into teh goalie's stick. We should have had at least a couple more goals due to this.
Transition really helps this team. They need to keep it and keep the game fast. Albany, a fast pace team, could not keep up with SU. We have the horses to run most, it not all, teams into the ground.
- Porter had a slow start but played really well after gaining his composure.
- Defense is killer, they are aggressive, Kennedy is great - unless he is trying to be teh hearo
- Defense needs to push the ball up in true fast break transition, this alone will yeild a few more goals per game.
- Middies need to attack the net at least a few times on the fast breaks, especially when we have numbers. Pulling up an a fast break and passing to a wing negates the numbers advantages gained by the D.
- Desko was a better coach today, allowing the middies to attack when in transition instead of stopping the ball and trying to force a half field set offense on every possession. For the record, I am OK with the substitutions when in he set offense, but in transition, substitutions is a momentum killer.
- Kids love to run. Let them run. Good things happen when they run.

Great D, great transition. Would like to have seen the poles pull the trigger a few more times rather than just dump it into the L. Some of the fundamentals on O can be improved... some of the adjacent middies had their sticks in their wrong hands without their bodies open to the ball. Stupid little stuff like that which will be a problem when we play better teams. Albany looked awful. Wouldn't read too much into this game but it's good to get a win after last week.

Yeah, he outscored Albany outright. I had a harsh opinoinn of him after last week, glad to admit I was wrong.

I think everyone had harsh opinions about this team, from the coaches down to the ball boy, after last week. And it was expected after the product they showed in that Colgate game. Nice to see whatever it was in practice this past week sank in. There's always little things in every game but for the most part the team played with intensity and drive, and the dominating win shows it. The need to shoot high still kills me though. Hopefully this is the team we see the rest of the year.

Agreed, a lot of things to work on especially on offense but I was happy to see the team respond and look a lot better despite an awful offensive 3rd quarter. Need better shot placement, low to high, bounce shots, etc etc. Cook needs run at attack and we have to figure out if Rehfuss is hurt or what is going on with him, two games and he doesn't have a goal, that's not going to work at Syracuse. I keep hammering this point but Staats or even Wisnaukas on this team would really open things up. We need someone to step up at attack hopefully Seebold or Cook can be that.

Very nice response today. They looked much more comfortable on both sides of the ball-the offball defense is what most stood out to me today along w porters exceptional play. For the record, I don’t think Albany is a very good team (right now at least) but this is exactly what this group needed after last week.

Albany will be a better team toward the end of the year but there going to struggle in their OOC with COrnell and Yale still on tap, its hard to see them winning either game. D was great today and the SSDM were for the most part excellent. Albany rushed a few good looks which helped as well. Like what Porter did after a slow start.

So pissed I had to miss this game and wasn’t able to watch remotely.

Sounds like it was a fun watch and the lads responded very well.

Will probably see if I can find a replay on ACCDN. Good stuff in this game thread.

Curry has 9 points in two games. On pace for over 50.

Were going to need it with no Dordevic and Rehfuss looking less then 100%. You wonder if Berkman might get a look here if the struggles at X continue. Need to get Lipka and Trimbo back on track as well. Thought Dekso should have played the second mid line more in the second half.

You can watch the replay anytime via the ESPN App, just search Syracuse and look under replay.

can't believe how logy nanticoke was second half. noah taylor i believe played at watertown

Trimboli, Carlin, and Lipka would have a few more points if they'd quit shooting high to high. Cook would probably have some too if he'd stop with the stutter step and curling back into the defense behind the goal.

Can't complain too much after the win though. On to Army.

It's available now for replay on either ESPN3 or the ACCNE. I loaded it (even though I watched the game) just to see Marr drop the bomb again. 4:25 left in the game, if you're interested. ;)

I doubt we'll see Berkman considering Cook and Seebold got runs at the X besides Rehfuss. It was nice to see a better semblance of a second line today getting 2 goals and a assist from Carlin and Buttermore; still don't understand why neither saw the field against Colgate. Carlin ran some invert taking advantage of his good size.

I agree. Their starting attack Laffin from Corcoran didn't make it past the first quarter picking up an ankle injury; their two frosh attackmen in Yunker and McComber (who was matched up w/ Mellen a lot) saw a lot of action; by the time the second half started one of their 1st line middies, Kyle Casey was starting at attack. They should get better, but depth beyond their first line remains an issue. They also play Maryland too.

What I found most frustrating was that Trimboli scored on his first shot, an overhand high to low off stick side and then he went back to slinging it side arm and playing catch with the goalie.

He scored on a shot on the run. I think almost all of his other shots were step downs. Maybe he thinks too much on those. Shots on the run he just lets it fly

It takes good team defense to wear down Nanticoke and we certainly got that, but I need to give Tyson Bomberry a shout-out. I thought it would be a mistake having him guard Tehoka after last season. Our physicality out there was impressive with some big hits from Bomberry and Mellen on Tehoka.

OK, my wife thinks I'm crazy, but if you ignore the droning characteristics of Ryan Powell's delivery, does anyone else think he sounds like Kevin Costner?
