Yukon vs Indiana

Aol would have made a ton of difference for us if he chose SU. Kid is a star.

Who?

Akok is really good. Their guards still stink and Carlton can’t jump. I thought Bouknight was a lottery pick?

Meh. He's averaging 6 PPG on 43% shooting. He's their 7th leading scorer and 3rd leading rebounder. 3 blocks though.

Tyler Lydon was twice the player he was as a freshman. Not even close. If he was on Syracuse putting up those numbers people would say he was overrated.

Defensively he’s been great and has a good motor, he’d be a killer in the zone. Offensively they don’t use him much and he’s not great on the end right now.

agree he’s nowhere close to Lydon

Have you watched him play? When he can stay in the game he is a difference maker. If he was doing for us what he does for uconn he would be our starting center.

Tyler was the man, but why are we comparing?

He's not great offensively (not many freshman big guys are), but he is satisfactory and getting better.

It’d be interesting how JB would use him. I don’t think he’d start at the 5, he’s more of a wing - but he gives a lot less offensively than Marek. QG has a different skill set than Akok and I think QG right now fits our offense better and is a better overall rebounder. Akok woulda played the 5 in a backup role though

Yeah he is what he is right now on offense. Lydon was a stud from day 1 on both sides though

This game started and I thought to myself I really dislike both these teams. It surprised me as the game continued how much more I dislike Yukon. I mean I knew it was more just didn’t realize how much more.

Me too. I will never forgive Indiana for 1987 and do not like them. However, the husky dogs are beyond sickening. So glad to see hurley lose again. I don't think it will happen because the AAC is not a great conference but 4 straight losing seasons would be highly enjoyable.

AAC is awful this year. Cincy is down. Memphis will be in the tourney. Tulane is improved but still iffy. Temple/Wichita are solid. 2-3 bid league

You are probably right that he wouldn't start at the 5, but if he could stay out of foul trouble I think he would play more meaningful minutes than our current centers.

I guess I don't get the comparison to a guy that hasn't played at cuse in years. We should compare him to our current lineup, that could certainly benefit from his talent.

You said he was a star. His numbers and play suggest anything, but that. He's good defensively, but he's putting up meh numbers on a 6-3 team.

I was a large proponent of Akok Akok during his recruitment last year. I still believe he has a ton of potential.

The downside that I discover recently is that he is as already 20 years old as a redshirt freshman.
He plays about 22-25 minutes a day and averages 5-6 ppg and about 7-8 rpg playing for a crappy team coached by a bad coach/better recruiter. If he stays through his senior year (which is doubtful), he will be 23.5 years old.

His recruitment last year was suspicious because Hurley convinced him to sign last December and redshirt his first semester.

I liked Akok's game. Other than him, Uconn doesn't have much. Indiana fans definitely appeared to outnumber and were much more vocal than the Uconn fans. Hurley acts like a complete moron on the sidelines and I was hoping an Indiana player would run him over.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Akok is gone after this year

People complaining about Buddy/JG3 should watch UConn last night. Their upper class backcourt completely crapped the bed against an average team (OK State and PSU are just as good if not better than IU). Meanwhile, their 2 freshman guards off the bench were invisible.

Meanwhile we had backcourt of 2 freshman and a sophomore last month against those teams.
