The Best Pizza Joint in Every P5 College Town

Yes they do. Last time I was there, they had a keto crust and a cauliflower crust option. It was weird because the cauliflower option was more keto than the keto option.

I just checked and it looks like they only have a keto option now, and it looks cauliflower based.

I haven’t tried either. I have only been there a couple of times, ordered normal crust and just ate the top. How sad. You don’t understand how important crust is for pizza until you eat it without it.

I came close to trying one of the low carb crusts, but I watched some videos of people trying them and their reaction was enough to convince me to not give them a try. They didn’t bad mouth the crust and said generally positive things but I got bad vibes. If someone on the board has tried the keto crust and liked it, please step up. Would love to hear the straight scoop on this option.

I'm not big on food substitutes, but I've had cauliflower crust a couple times (not at Blaze...chains: boooooooo) and have really been pleasantly surprised. If it's keto-friendly, give it a try, you might be impressed.

The best pizza in Boston is Regina Pizzeria, hands down. A very very close runner-up is Santarpios in Eastie. Santarpios is VERY expensive though.

And then people say "tHoSe PlAcEs ArE tOuRiSt TrApS"

Alright, cool. The pizza is still the best in the city.

The best cannolis in the city are at Bova's Bakery in the North End. Stop by for one after you have the gnocchi bolognese at Monica's across the street. (Open 24/7 too, in non-global pandemic times) :)
Original Santarpios is pretty good pizza.

Bova's may very well be the best cannoli in Boston. Modern pastry if you like it sweeter. Mikes is just all around solid. Call me crazy, but I rather enjoy the ritual of standing in Mike's huge lines. I'm prolly already stuffed from dinner in the North End, anyways. Its like the anticipation of waiting in line at your favorite concert...lol. Bova's may be a 9.9, but Mike's is still a 9.7. ALL fantastic.

If you're in Boston? Get the freaking cannoli. To heck with keto for a day. Florentine Cannoli in Boston may very well be the best dessert on the planet.

The one thing I miss from Syracuse food wise is the pizza. I absolutely despise Buffalo pizza. It’s tolerable now, but give me Syracuse pizza every day of the week. The only thing remotely close in Buffalo is zettis and ginos. We do have some pretty great brick oven places though.

As others have said, you can go anywhere in Buffalo and get fantastic wings. Except, ironically enough, anchor bar. I think they may be my least favorite wings in Buffalo. The only thing they have going for them is that they were the innovator. I have had way entirely too many crappy meals there.

East aurora is great, Bar Bill is probably my favorite place. The wing sauce is painted on; the flavor is great and I have my own mug for 1 dollar pints. (The Clarence one that just opened is unfortunately not as good quality).
La Nova (Westside) and Bob & John's on Hertel are dang good.

Mario and Salvos is king
My sleeper pick for good pizza near campus is OIP next to Tops by South Campus. Severely underrated in my opinion
Second the OIP. Skytop Liquors next door is an added bonus.

The pepperoni in Buffalo’s an abomination

When I was a senior, M Street had Archie's, Cosmos, Yash's and Varsity...Yash made a nice slice. Soft spot for Varsity. Cosmos was like an NYC slice. Loved the variety. All good. Archie's was good enough.

And there was a McDs, Burger King and a million bars.

place is a ghost street now.

Only children don't like cup n char pep. That statement makes me think you order medium wings too.
How... how dare you.

Honestly if it’s Buffalo I likely would order medium because the flavor’s better.

Cuse and Utica I go hot.

Other cities? Never order wings.

Cup n char is heresy. Only a step above pineapple on a pie

People in the rest of the country really go to Buffalo Wild Wings and Wing Stop, and think those are good wings!

Will I go to B Dubs and absolutely defile myself with boneless wings?

Absolutely.

Should I feel bad about it? Yes.

I don't think this has been discussed and for completeness, I will just mention that, as far as I can tell, there are two places that make deep dish pizza (other than Pizza Hut) in CNY.

One is Pizzaz Pizza. I have never even heard of this place. It is on South Ave on the South side. They appear to specialize in NY style but do make a deep dish as well. I haven't been, but the reviews are promising. Only open Wednesday-Sunday.

The other is Tangy Tomato. This is a kind of a hole in the wall place on Burnet, in what used to be Liberty Bakery, just down the street from Shifty's and Dominick's.

I think it used to be called Giannis. Believe the owner then was from Brooklyn.

Anyway, this place does the NY style you see all other the place but they also do Chicago style deep dish pizza. I believe it opened around 6 months ago. I haven't tried it or talked to someone who personally tried it but the reviews are very good. The prices look very reasonable (If you need deep dish, this might be the place to try.

Both are pretty close to campus for the SU students out there.

I also haven't tried Tangy Tomato, but everyone I speak to that has been there loves it.

And lowkey Wegmans has some bomb pizza at their pizza station. And dont get me started on their subs

Anyone here ever been to &Pizza? It's a local chain in the DC area. My personal fave is the "Dirty Bird."

Going back aways M Street also had Pizza King. To be honest I don’t particularly remember their pizzas. They had a burger called the Whopper though and BK took them to court to make them drop the name. They changed it to The Vhopper. Anyway, Pizza King morphed into The All Night Eggplant and moved to Dewitt. The Vhopper is still on their menu. And it’s still better than BK’s pretender.

The Louisiana dry rub on the boneless wings is phenomenal and I'm not ashamed.

Also they have great fries.

I'm not too cool to admit that my go to at Wing Stop is the balls.

Wow. I did not know the back story of The All Night Eggplant. IMO, the best breakfast joint in Syracuse.
