He’s an experienced backup guard who for now is a 3 and D guy. Someone who backs up the 2 or plays when you decide to go 3 guards as another wing. He is limited in any other role unless he makes a massive jump which is hard to see happening given how he plays.

I guess another factor is NIL terms- if they go beyond a players time on campus and that money is tied up then you are managing the equivalent of dead money too… this is something I’ve been curious about how it’s managed with the portal and even kids that go pro

Grading it out is where it gets tricky though too- are we too low to be able to compete effectively? Not sure that fact is by any means settled even if we do need to improve- like any money race that’s a moving target so improving is always going to be a goal.

I would take the Carlos kid from Hofstra 10/10 times and twice on Sunday over letting JJ run the point.

He navigated a conference upgrade, two of his players he recruited and coached went to a high major in the portal including Leffew wherever he decides. He has experience coaching in the NCAAT and is respected by Red and by many others in the DMV region. He has HC experience to bring lessons...

Good for them- the waters aren’t fully stocked anymore and they just lost a big piece to the portal. They need a whole team unless an underwhelming recruiting class is gonna be better than expected.

Maybe.. but if they drop a ridiculous bag out of desperation, especially with Bamba leaving now it is what it is. Their roster looks like a bottom half A10 squad right now even if they add Leffew.

For sure he is… but if Nova is desperately dropping huge money on this kid then so be it… he’s not going to save their season that looks like a rough one

On a side note I’d toss a little extra $$ in to get Roach if that’s now a real option… Roach would have a role that features him more here for sure.

Plus Nova has a boatload more question marks going into next year than we do- right now the open PG spot pretty much completes the primary rotation so he would slot into a nearly complete team minus any additional pieces that are added to fill out the roster. It would be an interesting choice if...

no one even knows this just to be clear. Just saying Nova lost massive momentum with Wright leaving. They are hurting and not sure how you can sell that program easily right now- doesn’t appear it’s selling well based on recruiting either

honestly picking Nova right now would have to be about $$ alone. Neptune has done very little since taking over and they have quite a few guards I thought returning. Their HS recruiting has fallen off too.

He’s an inch shorter and 5 lbs lighter than Maliq but a more physical player than Maliq. His physicality and ability to do multiple things is the value add ( especially rebound and pass). He’s well suited as a backup 4/3 and emergency 5 since he played the 5 at UD.

Nova did just land the Penn guard last week

Shot selection and tendencies when you are a primary option tend to be more problematic than when a complementary piece. He plays hard and makes plays on both ends while being a really physical player. He also won’t be going up constantly against Cs all year which should help too.

Have you not read through the thread- watched 10 of his games. Both start of being a PG and later in the year. On defense - he’s 6-5 so his length and range is where he does well. He had a few times smaller waterbug guards got by him but he mostly does a nice job keeping things in front of him...
