Pace, ball movement and volume of possessions seems to be the offensive priority - that’s a recipe for everyone to eat, if executed correctly.

Dude was a plus defender at TCU for three years, so I think that can be corrected in the right system. Color me happy to have a big that can pass, rebound and finish. Turnovers can be managed, even if not to perfection. This is a solid get to play, and win, deeper into March.

I think JJ and Bell are neck and neck here, but JJ may actually be a worse defender only because he lacks the length Bell has to compensate. Judah’s not a plus defender by any means, but he’s passable.

The fun factor pales in comparison to cost and accessibility. Cost of ice / court time, equipment, travel, etc. all continue to rise, and community programs / subsidies just aren’t there anymore to fill the void.

These early games, especially with the longer stretches of practice between them, can prove to be as helpful as they were hard to watch at times. We’ll see - hell of a ride either way.

Fair enough - I agree there’s a lot of give / take depending on the style of play and how you define a center in the game today. There are 350+ starting centers, so the opportunity to get one that’s top 5-10% is enticing and is driving up his value disproportionately.

But what about Binghampton?

I’ll bite - name 10-20 centers that are better. Edit: I’ll start. Edey, Sanogo, Clingan, Dickinson, Tshiebwe, Tubelis…Edwards You can argue for Bacot, Soriano, Kalkbrenner, Nunge, Dante, etc. but Edwards was just so damn efficient.

Still early days with NIL, and there’s hope the market will normalize as folks see the real ROI. Frankly, I’m glad SU didn’t pay beyond real value, which I very much believe to be true with numbers being floated. Build the war chest to spend wisely on value, and let the others throw around cash...

This. Sometimes good enough is, well, good enough when other conditions are met. Lots of professionals give “discounts” to employers for the right role, team, etc. Sometimes money wins, though - them’s the breaks.

I don’t get the Hima hate. He’s a strong rebounder and shot blocker, proficient passer for his size, and runs the floor well. His biggest issue was getting caught out of position in the zone, which resulted in bad fouls when he had to recover. Man defense will help some, and his size, rebounding...

Westry had his knee scoped before the season (I believe with Pearl), and likely rushed his return. Kid was/is very talented, but knees are very fickle.

Complete hypothetical, but the broader UW situation has me wondering how much more boosters can now sway coaching hires / fires with NIL as it is. If the well dries, it’s a hell of a battle for any coach to recruit and retain players.

It’s definitely been miserable lately. My workaround for sports has been using AirPlay from my iPhone or iPad using the Hulu app. Have had zero issues since.
