The other day in the Rochester paper, they had a comment from a fan comparing the '03 team versus 11-12 team they had something like this: Melo over Joseph (only slightly?), Melo II over Forth by far, the combination of Jardine/Triche/Waiters over GMac/Duany/Pace and said the Fair is already better than Warrick. Now I am never a fan of making these types of comparisons but I wonder what you all think? Personally I think Carmello alone puts the 03 team ahead and until Fair whom I like a lot runs from the lane to the 3 pt line to block a last second shot, I ain't putting him ahead of Warrick.
These comparisons are silly (not your post, but the person writing the paper)...
-By the end of the year, Melo was a man amongst boys, there's no where to even start with a comparison. He played 37 mins a game or so at the end, was a double double machine. We needed a hoop, throw him the ball. If he missed, he went and took the rebound from everyone. We needed a board, he took it from whomever. He is worth three of our guys, esp. guys playing 20 mins a game.
In a game where there are only 200 total mins, a guy like Melo, playing 35-40 of them, changes the game like no other, and we cannot compare anyone in 2012, any where in all of college ball.
-By the end of the year, Billy E was playing great ball. Without him, we don't win Ok St. So, that's a major oversight. When he was on, he got to the rim at will.
-Fair better than Warrick is terribly funny. Hak is one of my fav's and by the end of the soph year, he was a dominate inside guy. He could be counted on to toss the ball inside and score. I like CJ a lot, but CJ is no Hak right now. I think people forget how good Hak was and it started by the end of his soph year.
