10's over 7's

Anybody agree with me on this: My gut is telling me all the 10 seeds win their first games...with the exception of Florida (7) over UVA

Xavier over a struggling ND (lesser of two evils; I don't think highly of either team)

WVU over Gonzaga (this is like a home game--could go either way...but I think WVU wins)

Purdue over St. Mary's (this St Mary's team is not as good as some of their other recent teams)

What do you guys think? It wouldn't surprise me if UVA won but they stink lately.

I actually like all of the 7 seeds. I think St. Mary's will roll over Purdne and I like Gonzaga as well. ND is the only one I think may lay an egg. I think Mary's will give Kansas a good game. Very impressed with that team.

yeah...Maybe I haven't seen St Mary's enough to know how good they are...I sometimes am not up to speed on west coast teams.

Same. Granted, I only watched 1.5 games of them all year, but I watched the whole Gonzaga game when they SMOKED them at home and saw parts of the championship game. All you need to know is they are FULL of Australians. Matt Dellavedova will be this year's Ali what'shisname from Northern Iowa when they beat Kansas.

That was my one thought as well. I hope that they win because then it would set up a nice home court advantage against OSU. I just think Few will have his boys ready to play and overcome the travel excuse.

I always struggle with the 7/10 games. No matter which way I go, I can't seem to get them right.

I think Florida beats UVA. I also like Xavier. I agree that WVU v Gonzaga is a toss-up but my gut has Gonzaga because a lot of people are going with WVU due solely to their playing close to home. It's just too popular a pick. The Purdue-St. Mary's game, I think I like St. Mary's. I don't really have a good reason and I haven't yet had time to do my full due diligence on the mid-majors, so I may change my mind before Thursday.

UVA over Florida is the only one that I think is a guaranteed upset. Florida = least impressive team of the year not named UConn/Pittsburgh to me.

I'm really struggling now...you guys are making me second guess as I'm about to do my picks...I think I may go all 7s now, except for taking Xavier. I can't bring myself to take ND considering their track record and how awful they've been lately. Xavier stinks too though. Every year I think I'm going to make my picks with conviction and then I waiver.

Keep in mind that Xavier was a pre-season top 10 team before the brawl, so they have some talented players. They lost 5 out the next 6 after the brawl when they had some suspensions to work through.
