These are the final rankings based on a simple system I developed using the only thing that matters when determining the best teams in the nation - Results of the NCAA Tournament

1. Kentucky
2. Kansas
3. Ohio State
4. Louisville
5. North Carolina
6. Syracuse
7. Baylor
8. Florida
9. Michigan State
10. Marquette
11. Indiana
12. Wisconsin
13. Cincinnati
14. Xavier
15. NC State
16. Ohio
17. Florida State
18. Georgetown
19. New Mexico
20. Vanderbilt
21. Murray State
22. Gonzaga
23. Iowa State
24. Creighton
25. Kansas State

Also receiving votes:

Saint Louis (26), Purdue (27), Colorado (28), VCU (29), USF (30), Norfolk State (31), Lehigh (32), Missouri (33), Duke (34), Michigan (35), Wichita State (36), Temple (37), San Diego State (38), UNLV (39), Notre Dame (40), Saint Mary's (41), Memphis (42)

Mantonio is gonna be PISSED. He said that if we didn't finish second in the final poll, the poll is corrupt.

Wouldn't we be 5th in you system. Us and UNC both lost in same round and we were 2nd overall seeded team in the tourney.

It doesn't take the 'overall seeding' or committee rankings into account because the committee used to only ever rank the #1 seeds. Does the committee now publish the overall rankings from 1-68? If they do, then that may allow for some changes to the system.

As for now, UNC gets the tie-breaker over Syracuse because they lost to Kansas (finished #2), while SU lost to Ohio State (finished #3).

So missouri isnt ranked lol? Ok

Nope. Why should they be? 32 teams advanced farther than they did. They lost to Norfolk State in the most important game of the season. They had a fine regular season and accomplished a great deal, but if a team can't get it done when it truly counts then that's too bad.

yes they did release the 1-68 for the first time this year, but they had ranked them that way for a few years now

Mizzou will end up 12th-13th. I guarantee that

using that rationale, Ohio State should be ranked 4th, because they lost to #2 while Louisville lost to #1, and that means Baylor and Florida should both be ahead of the Orange

The final rankings are kind of dumb. They are based on an even shakier system than the in season rankings, which are really based on nothing.

You either rank teams based entirely on performance in the NCAAT in which case Missouri and Duke can't be in your top 15, or you rank them based on overall season in which case Lousiville doesn't belong in the top 4. (Referring to ESPN's rankings, not OP's)

Pro forma, the coaches poll (USA Today/ESPN) name the final four as the top 4 teams.
