Syracuse finishes 46th.
Congrats to Stanford.

It should be noted that they field 36 varsity teams, which is an incredible number for any school, especially a really expensive private school.

Syracuse offers 7 varsity sports for men, 11 for women. Exactly half of what Stanford offers. If you assume SU added 18 more varsity sports and enjoyed the same level of success with the new sports as their existing ones, they would have finished 8th in the Learfield standings.

Here are the number of varisty sports the top 15 finishers in the Learfield Cup field:

Stanford 36
UCLA 25
Florida 21
USC 21
Texas 18
Michigan 29
Ohio State 37
Georgia 19
Florida State 20
Texas A&M 20
Duke 27
Penn State 31
North Carolina 27
Alabama 21
NC State 23

Texas is doing a heck of a good job given they only have 18 varsity sports.
