There was a slight change to the order of the top-5 teams in the Northeast Region between Week 5 and Week 6.
Iona, Syracuse and Stony Brook remained No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, for the second week in a row following their conference titles this past weekend. The Gaels won the MAAC, while the Orange and Seawolves captured crowns in the ACC and America East, respectively.
No. 18 Syracuse showed it still had some fight and won its fifth team title in the past six years at the ACC Championships. The Orange juiced the top-20 with six athletes – none finished better than ninth – as it won by five points over Notre Dame.
Four new teams enter the National Coaches’ Poll this week following their performances at their respective conference championships. No. 27 Ole Miss, No. 29 Syracuse, and No. 30 California Baptist all earned the nod to the poll after previously receiving votes, while No. 28 Villanova was previously not ranked.
