2022 NCAA Division 1 women’s basketball recruiting calendar

Each academic year, the NCAA outlines specific types of contact that college coaches are permitted to have at the Division 1.

Dead period and recruiting shutdowns: During the dead period, coaches may not have any in-person contact with recruits or their parents. But communication is still allowed to occur via phone, email and social media or other digital communication channels. A recruiting shutdown, on the other hand, means no forms of recruiting are permitted, including contact with college coaches, evaluations, unofficial or official visits, correspondence and making or receiving phone calls.

  • March 31-April 14, 2022: Dead period
  • May 2-8, 2022: Recruiting shutdown
  • July 13–20, 2022: Dead period
Quiet period: During a quiet period, athletes can talk to college coaches in-person on their college campus. However, the coach can’t watch recruits compete in-person, visit their school, talk to them at their home or anywhere outside of the college campus.

  • April 8–10, 2022
  • April 20–July 5, 2022
Evaluation period: Also known as a live period, the evaluation period is the specific time of year when college coaches can watch an athlete compete in person or visit their school. But coaches can’t communicate with recruits (or their parents) off the college campus.

  • April 15–19, 2022 (only scholastic events)
  • April 22–24, 2022 (only certified non-scholastic events)
  • May 20-22, 2022 (only certified non-scholastic events)
  • July 6–12, 2022 (only certified non-scholastic events and institutional camps)
  • July 21–25, 2022 (only certified non-scholastic events and institutional camps)
Contact period: During the contact period, all communication between athletes and coaches is fair game.

  • March 1–30, 2022 (contact with juniors is not permissible.)

I post a recruiting calendar on the football recruiting forum each year. I thought this might be helpful for some who aren't aware of the recruiting calendar for women's basketball. I'll update the recruiting dates when they become available for the rest of 2022.

So there is a scheduling conflict above How can you have both a quiet period and a dead period at the same time? April 8-10, 2022

No. Last weekend prospects could take visits to campus. Now this week is a Dead Period. It's the wisdom of the NCAA. Probably has to do with Passover and Easter.

Maybe it's a raising from the dead period?

Syracuse comes back from the dead on Easter Sunday!!!!

Sorry, not sorry.
That was like the best Easter ever!!

Have all our transfers signed with someone? I know that Ebony Walker entered late so she hasn’t- I haven’t heard anything about Jayla Thornton. Injuries really derailed her at SU. Anyone else without a home yet? Thanks.

From what I can find neither Thornton or Julianna Walker have landed anywhere yet. And Eboni will have to sit out the year because she entered the portal late.

Thank you - knew there was one missing - Walker just couldn’t remember - getting old and older. :) For their sakes, hope they can find a program.

Question is ...is being a practice player in a P5 program better then moving down looking for more playing time.

In her case she is completely across the country from home. Might want to find something on the west coast.

Depends on what you value, if you want some from the school (degree) or the experience of playing college hoops.

Waiting for the "Portal Games" to begin!
Need to get a couple of centers to commit. Really like the two freshman commits for 23. Our 22 point guard looks strong. Will be interesting to see how Mcnabb develops over the next couple of years.
