A Different Type of Uniform Thread

This is an off-season topic, but I thought it would be fun to list the 10 best college unis. This being a subjective list, mine is undoubtedly influenced by personal loyalties. However, while I generally root against some of the teams on my list, I have to give kudos for their laundry.

Here is my list; feel free to list your own or be critical of mine.

FSU- I do not like the 'Noles, but their unis rock. I also think they have the best home pregame ritual in college football.

OSU- I don't like the Buckeyes either, but their unis are aces.

LSU- The Bayou Bengal unis work on so many levels.

ND- The gold helmets.

Mich- Also, the helmets.

UT- I know it isn't real orange, but it's an iconic look on Rockytop.

Alabama- The classic crimson is a timeless look.

Clemson- Maybe I just like orange.

SU- Ok, a homer pick, but I love the OBO and OWO unis.

Navy- Maybe I am partial to gold helmets with Navy jerseys.

North Carolina's uniforms are great. Ole Miss and Tulane alternates also look good with the powder blue, but love UNCs and its their primary color.

Georgia and USC are also classic.
 
All of the uniforms listed have been used for years... a tradition. The unis used for the Army-Navy game are an exception to this. I don't like schools that change their uniforms frequently.
 
As for my list, I intentionally excluded any uni that uses pastels. Therefore, UNC and UCLA were eliminated. This personal bias against pastels is because it's football!

The Navy/Army game unis have been fantastic and deserve mention, but I was looking at regular-season unis.

Also, it is not a coincidence that most of the uniforms on my list have remained constant for many years.
 
I like Arizona State's unis as well. Agree with Michigan but it has to be the classic unis, not the monochrome combos they throw out sometimes (all blue, etc...). IMO, the only monochrome look that is OK is all whites.

Not a huge fan of Bama's unis though. Classic yes, but kind of boring. Just like Penn State's.

Also - any uniform that has fluorescent colors, immediately gets eliminated from any best uniform list (Oregon & Mich St had at one time these abominations). I do like Michigan State's classic unis.

During every Army-Navy game, both services pay homage to distinguished units.

Last year the Army wore uniforms representing the 101st Airborne at Bastogne.

The Navy honored Fighter Squadron VF-17.
 
My list includes:
- SMU - their blue jersey stands out against other ACC jersey colors
- Ole Miss - gray pants with red or blue jersey and contrasting helmet seems pretty sharp
- and of course, SU - true orange

speaking of Georgia Tech -- did anyone see the rings they got (espncfb on instagram)

the team got rings to 'cap off a milestone season'

"The Yellow Jackets earned their first AP Poll ranking since 2015 and backed it up with a Birmingham Bowl berth, two top-10 upsets (FSU LOL), and their first undefeated home season in 25 years"


what are we doing?????? they went 7-6!!!!!

Sounds like a program that would be down to replace UCF to help UConn restart the civil conflict…
 
As a kid I loved UCLA's powder blue and gold - still do.
Loathe to say it, but I always appreciated the understated simplicity of PSU's blue and white. I heard they had to pull teeth to get the blue stripe added to the helmet.
Never cared for achievement stickers - too "look what I did." And towards the end of the year the helmet looked like it had been on a crash test dummy.
And I'm of course partial to our beloved Orange's OBO
