A step closer to NYC!!!!

Do you really think, at this point, we're in jeopardy of losing NYC to Duke? They would have to pretty much win out, including the ACC tournament, to jump us.

I had this discussion with Alsacs the other day. Today was not a clinch over Duke, but it would require the following scenario which puts them in a massive hole.

Duke goes 8-1 the rest of the ACC to end at 14-4
Duke wins at Cameron
Syracuse loses 4 games, to end at 14-4
Duke wins the ACC tourney

Duke is not in contention for a #1 seed. They are a very good team but you have to win a few games over the top competition to get a 1 seed and so far Duke has failed to do that.

If we win the ACC with no more than 4 losses we are the 1 seed in the East. We have some separation over the other teams vying for MSG.

If we finish 14-4 and lose in ACC tourney Duke can certainly still catch us. 8-1 the rest of the way, beat us at Cameron, win ACC, and they would be ahead of us on the s-curve and get MSG -- whether that is the last one seed , or on the two line.

The problem for Duke is we are not going 14-4, and they need to take us out possibly twice.

if duke won yesterday, yes they could have passed us, we would have dropped to 5 and duke would have been 10, still can but our win yesterday out us in more of a lead

The 1 seeds are far from set. The only team that should feel truly comfortable about a 1 is Wichita St.

Teams who get hot and make runs are always rewarded with 1 seeds. Especially if Duke were able to pull it off, beat us twice and win the ACC tourney.

Right now it will be hard for Duke to pass us, but it's not impossible. Had they won last night, it would have been very ungood for our NYC hopes.

In that scenario it is unlikely we'd be a #1 seed anyway
