Miami started slow tonight against Stetson, but are rolling now. They are physical, play good defense and have really good positional size at all positions. 55-36 at the half and they barely scored the first eight minutes of the game. Will be a very tough game. They have Donaldson and Reneau as transfers. Both are very good, plus the freshman Shelton Henderson. Their defense kick starts their offense, much like SU.

Duke opening up a 20 point lead now, but for most of the 1st half they didn't look like what the 4th ranked best team in college basketball should look like.

Louisville off to a nice start against Kentucky. Wake Forest beating Michigan with 4 minutes left. Florida State giving Florida all they can handle.

ACC has a chance to make a huge statement tonight about the improvement of the conference.
For sure. 3 ACC teams leading 3 top 10 teams right now. If they can pull it out that would be huge.

I'm not sure if the ACC even had a single win against a top 10 team last year the entire 2 months of OOC play. Perhaps Duke had one.

They could get 3 of them tonight within the span of a few hours.

So I went and looked at my worksheet last year (games up to around Christmas - I quit before the last week of December)

Last year the ACC went 3-20 in "Top Half" Q1 games at the time of the game (Top 15 at Home, Top 38 on the Road, Top 25 on Neutral Courts). And of those only one was a top 10 team at year end. Also of note is one of those 3 wins, one was only Top Half Q1 when that game was played, and not by season's end.

It does seem the luck has changed rapidly for Wake Forest and Florida St as I type this and they may be "good" road losses that will help our NET (especially for Wake), but its pretty clear that the ACC is going to better this year than last based on all the early data and results.

Boston College is really bad. Hope Wake can pull off this upset.

The ACC metrics can overcome one really bad team, although it would be nice if BC pulled their weight to at least be "bad" and not "real bad".

The problem is when there is a bunch of mediocrity and crap (sub 100 teams), and so far it looks like there will be way less this year.

I wasn’t really commenting on that part of it. They’re just like… noticeably bad. It stands out lol.

Aaaaand they lost… again lmao

Florida St right back in the game. Down 1.
Wake tied it appears.

Hopefully we don't end up with 2 good "road losses" and pull out at least 1,

2 losses. But in the big picture, this adds to the early trend that indicates the ACC is way better this year.

This might not be an easy conference to go something like 11-9 in, But if the ACC OOC trend continues, 11-9 or even 10-10 is probably good enough to get you in the tournament unlike prior years.
