john saunders says that talking to basketball coaches from around the country, Syracuse is the best team in the last 15 years or something like that. Ellis says, if they don't win the national title he would be surprised. Can't complaion about no respect.

Yikes. Really? As a die hard fan I don't even think those things are true. This is the ESPN reverse-vex.

Lots of empty seats. You'd think the Hoyas would be a draw.

Spoken like a true gentleman. :)

Fifteen years or so is about the time of the 96 Kentucky team...

Am I watching college hoops...silly question

I'm sorry...I absolutely love this team and all...and I think they are a rightful #1 and easily one of the top 4 teams in the nation.....but that's just ridiculous for anyone to say. The "go to guy" thing is overblown, but their problem in the half court offense are not. They go through too long of dead spells in their O to be considered one of the better teams of the last decade.

As much as I don't care for Roy Williams his 2005 AND 2009 North Carolina National Champion teams were more loaded than this team. Even though this is the deepest team in Syracuse history and this season should be Final 4 or bust. I would love to end up as a 1 seed with Ohio State, Kentucky, and North Carolina on the other side and would say Championship game or bust.

Sort of my point. None of us, who love syracuse hoops, would agree with statements like that. And it was both of them.

WHY ARE DOING THIS TO US!? ESPN HATES US! THEY WANT US TO FAIL SO THEY WILL BUILD US UP AND WHEN WE LOSE THEY WILL SAY IT'S THE BIGGEST CHOKE JOB IN HISTORY!!!

AHHHH

MAKE IT STOP!

In all seriousness, the idea that this team is better than 96 Kentucky, 99 UConn, 99 Duke, 01 Duke, and any of the 04-09 champions is probably wrong.

Besides the teams mentioned, I would take 2003 SU over this team. Like NKR said, it is a set up.

Now its steamrolled into bandwagon hyperbole. What the hey, we are in the spotlight (good), enjoy it whilst it lasts!
I do admit I have not seen a team like this one, even outside of SU, with no drop-off whatsoever for basically any substitution. Best of last 15 yrs is indeed a stretch, to be kind.

I forgot about 98 Kentucky. I don't think 97 Arizona was that great, but we have no one like Bibby on this team, just like we have no one like Carmelo.

The only champions this team is definitively better than would be MSU, Maryland, and the last two.

Bibby also had Jason Terry and Miles Simon. Hell Carmelo had GMac, Hak and Edelin.

Not saying were the best team in 15 years, but in fairness to our team now, we could be saying the same types of things about the players on this team now as well.

I heard similar talk a couple of times...about UNLV..and Duke. Both didn't win the NCAA Tourney the years that they were prematurely crowned.

Just for fun, I'd say the '99 UConn team was the best team of the modern basketball era. Modern meaning since the addition of the three point line. That team would have easily went undefeated if not for injuries.

The Kansas team of a few years back that won it all was also really good.

Those two teams stand out to me even though there have been many really good ones.

1996 Kentucky was awfully good. Only two losses, I think, an early-season close loss to UMass (which spent much of the year ranked #1) and the SEC Final loss to Mississippi State. And I believe that was the team that had the freak-show first half against LSU. Something like 80 points.

As if I needed another reason to hate Georgetown. I had them -9, like I said earlier, and they win by 8 costing me the triple parlay with Kentucky and Florida St.

He must have meant the best Syracuse team in the last 15 years, right? That would be much more believable although still debatable. I think 10 Syracuse would be this team if only because 12 Syracuse wouldn't be able to score on that zone.
