Reading the Boneyard I am absolutely amazed at the number of posters who appear to buy into the juvenile tweets of people like Greg Swaim, MHver3 and the Dude of WV. I can understand that there is a lot of fear of being "left behind" these days in Connecticut, and I can understand the desire of UCONN fans to scour the sports media universe for legitimate information about realignment.

What I can not understand is the willingness to leave all reason behind and to embrace what to me and any impartial observer is pure BS. I mean, the Dude has come right out and stated that what he says is not necessarily fact, just speculation intended to sow seeds of discontent among ACC schools and their fans because the ACC rejected WVU for membership. MHver3, another angry West Virginian, states on his Twitter home page that he specializes in "rumors."

My question. If we were in UCONN's shoes would SyracuseFan.com denizens be behaving like Boneyarders?? I can't for the life of me believe that most posters here could ever give credence to pathetic operators like the Dude.

Thank God we are not in a position to have to speculate. Fortunately for us, we're able to move on. Let the UConn fans grasp at straws!

Yes, probably. We'd be beside ourselves and inconsolable. The advantage we'd have and do have is much larger brand recognition, longer tradition,

I predict BB spinning off and UConn ends up in a NNNBE with Temple, UMass (assuming they still want to make the leap to D-1), Buffalo, Army, Navy, and, say Marshall in the North and a Southern Division of Tulane, Menphis, UCF, USF, and two of either UAB, Troy St., ECU, another Directional Suntan (FIU or FAU) etc.

I think we as a fan base on a message board would be very similar given the situation.

That said, what they seem to be lacking (when compared to us) are the true insiders/moderators who bring us back to reality. I'm speaking of Bees, CTO, etc..

I don't kmow if we are better fans, but we are better people. Right Marsh?
( I kid)

There would be a mixed bag. Even now we have people here getting worked up over every single rumor. Georgia Tech to the Big 10? Really? I think ultimately we're more level headed, but I imagine if we were in their position this place would be the bastion of insanity that the boneyard has devolved into.

Admittedly, I get a kick out reading the ACC snuff porn over there and on the WVU board. Ultimately, I think UConn ends up in the ACC with either ND or a Big 12 school unless Swofford could pull off the ND/Texas miracle at which point UConn ends up in the Big 10 or BE/CUSA/B12/MWC remnants. That last one wouldn't be ideal, but no way they're completely left behind, just like there's no way Syracuse will be completely left behind.

HuskyFanFan Boy wouldn't last two weeks on our board. There is the difference in boards. Hard to judge fans by the Internet...but UConn is the only place I had beer splashed at me in the stands. But...they have many good fans too...I've met in person and chatted with online. Fishy is the exception...he is 100% .

But hey I was told they passed us by as a program in two sports...so they can be picky. Realistically...if the B1G went full Cable market model and took UConn it would be very bad for us...prefer to have them in the ACC with us.

Fans are fans. Having said that, they seem to have some people over there that lack common sense. The talk that they turned down the ACC not once but twice is outright crazy. On this alone. The ACC wouldn't ask a second time. We would be in the same degree of panic however. I would be very interested in hearing Marsh's opinion.

I've given this a lot of thought.

Best decision SU ever made after the UVA-VPI debacle in 2003 was never signing onto the stupid lawsuit by the attention monger Richard Blumenthal lobbied at the ACC. It is the reason a bunch of ACC schools point the finger at UConn. While other BE were part of the lawsuit none were as loud and critical as Mr. Blumenthal. The UConn fan with the not one penny thread is just trying to do everything he can to apply for WVU board membership. I believe our board would behave better as I was depressed and being honest in my opinion in my posts and they weren't even in the league of the UConn board now. UConn fans thinking the B1G is an option are the ones I feel bad for as that conference won't want that program. Atleast RU had location going for them as its 30 miles from NYC and NJ has fertile recruiting grounds and a stadium that was expanded. If the B1G expands again it will be in ACC country or Mizzou as Jimmy Dykes reminded us the SEC doesn't have an exit fee to leave the conference. UConn isn't getting into the ACC unless multiple teams are poached from the conference as you got to believe that Cincinnati would be ahead of them if just 1 more ACC team left the conference.

lol You guys are brutal...to answer the question, just look back earlier in the season after the loses, as fans we operate inside of a jekyll and hyde lifestyle, we either real happy or the sky is falling, nothing wrong with that just the nature of things.

Uconn will land on their feet, but it does feel good to go over there and see them in panic mode with those 3 championships and all and not knowing where they will be. I get a devilish laugh just reading some of their anguish.

We'd be doing the exact same things.
We'd be dogging DG, Cantor, and anyone else involved in SU athletics.
We'd be wondering and no doubt questioning our value, self-worth, and putting down the city, school, and fans.
And we'd cling to whatever straws are out there, even those handed out by the WVU hillbilly posse.
That's just fact.

The difference in speculating based off educated guesses and speculating based off nothing but pure blind hatred of the ACC. Uconn has been turned down by the ACC three times now. Three! A significant portion of their internet fans absolutely hate the ACC. They're completely blinded in their hatred of the ACC. It's hilarious that in spite of that hated they would kill to be us, Louisville or Pitt. HuskyFanDan might literally kill.

Just a bit to demonstrate their stupidity/insanity is their long thread on the conference realignment board because the dude posted a long rambling post about the FSU president allegedly saying something about him at a meeting. Basically the dude cites an unnamed source, believes said unnamed source, writes about how he must be hitting a nerve because unmanned source says barron mentioned the dude, and the uconn fans eat it up.

An intelligent person would realize that the dude made up the unnamed source so he could write about it in his blog and stir up even more . One uconn fan in that 50+ post thread came to this obvious realization. One.

I expect more from the State of Connecticut. It's a civilized place, not some backwater cesspool like West Virginia. The fact that uconn fans are now equally as insane and stupid as WVU fans should cause some of the remaining intelligent ones to reevaluate their lives.

As their desperation grows the wackos start taking over.
They fully expected to be first-in-line this time around & UL gets in before them?
Calhoun is gone.
Bball program on probation w/ no postseason.
Ftball is a mess w/ the retread, ancient HC.
Yaaaaa...I'd say if the situation was reversed, some SU grenade-tossers would be having a field day.

I live in Connecticut and I love living in Connecticut. It's a great place with great people.

But the biggest problem is that the people of Connecticut have a MASSIVE inferiority complex. It's understandable, we're a small state wedged in between two gigantic media centers in New York City and Boston. We're considered "drive through" country among the people who live in those cities.

So any situation that reinforces the narrative that Connecticut is not good enough is going to spawn a big reaction. What's happened with conference realignment has done that in spades.

The question this thread is really asking is would the people who post on this site react in a similar way as the people posting on the UConn site. And that answer is almost assuredly yes. In terms of each school's "fan base" we're pretty much the same. All fan bases are pretty much the same.

Hathaway really screwed them hiring P. Calhoun and the apr could not have come at a worse time. Just a confluence of events at the worst time possible for them.

Yep.

Its remarkable how much the NOW influences these expansion decisions. For as much as Louiville made sense for the ACC, let's just flip the situation and assume UConn was a legit top 20 football team (not the sham BCS qualifier they were a couple years ago) about to play for their conference title, while UL was 10-13 the past 2 years and saddled with an unpopular coach. Assume UConn was currently top 5 in hoops with no eligibility issues or coaching distractions, while UL just had Pitino leave, was facing NCAA penalties and had a brutal recruiting season.

Good chance the invite goes differently.

Fans are fans. Not much difference here or there. But, I do think there may be a slightly higher ratio of delusional fans there. Fewer here. That comes from quite a bit more history of following these teams and watching first-hand some of the changes, and how they affect teams. Someone above said that HuskyFanFan wouldn't last here, and I think that's true. His utter nonsense would be blasted from all corners here.

the biggest difference is that Syracuse was ALWAYS going to land on its feet.

the name Syracuse has National cache, storz does not.

theyre screwed.

theyre useless.

and now...they finally know it.

theres nothing to speculate for them.

the Mayan Calendar was true for them.

its over, they can all go home now.

Better yes. Different no.
