If there were ever a shining, helmet-clad example of why the RPI should be
launched into low-Earth orbit and left to float alongside obsolete satellite
dishes, it’s the snub of the Army lacrosse team from this year’s NCAA
Championship.

While I always root for the academies, (when they’re not playing Syracuse), the truth is, if they did not have ARMY on their uniforms no one would think they belong.

Had we lost the first round tournament game to ND, and/or there was a bid stealer from BIG or IVY, we would not have much of a leg to stand on claiming the last spot. But even at that, we still would have deserved it over Army.

Our first win over Notre Dame would be a push with their win over North Carolina.

Then we would have beaten number 14, 15, 21 and 22

The would have lost to 15 and 16, and beat 15, and 17. they had no other games vs top 30 teams.

So it’s clear their resume would not have measured up to ours. Almost all of the top ACC, BIG and Ivy teams schedule three or four big nonconference games. Army scheduled one. I too would love to see them in, but they have no one to blame but themselves.

Again Army has only itself to blame for getting left out. When you play in what was again a pretty weak conference with Loyola again being a dumpster fire, Gate and Navy being at .500 and 8-6 respectively before the conference tournament started and 3 other teams besides Loyola finishing well under .500 you can't lose in the semi-finals on your home field for the second year in a row.

One thing they cant control is that 4-5 games a year will not be quality shots. So they have to go find 3-5 others to make up for it.

Most of the big teams have multiple league teams that give them chances for wins and then also try to find 2-3 others.

Army took on Rutgers/Yale/UNC and when you have an 9 team league that doesnt leave a ton of other spots to fill. Much easier as an IVY with 6 league games or the ACC/B10 with even more.

Yep, this is why I was stressing before the Selection Show that there were really only two bubble teams - Army and Harvard. And when you looked at the numbers (which the committee uses), there was really only one choice. Harvard's numbers were far greater than Army's.

After losing to Colgate, Army's exclusion was a stone cold lock.

Should hav won a couple of big games at home, or your conference and then complain. SOS.
Why is this thread on here anyway?

Because this is a lacrosse forum--open to fans of all teams, not just SU.
