Art Jones retires from NFL

How much did he make through his years?

Looks like $10 million of his $30 million contract that he signed with Indy was guaranteed. Plus whatever else he earned as incentive/during his time with Baltimore. Hopefully he's got a good money guy and makes that last.

I found a different site saying he was paid out $21,788,639 over 8 years. Not great, but not a bad career either.

Arthur Jones Contract Details, Salary Cap Charges, Bonus Money | Over The Cap

The same website shows Chandler making $37,972,499 over 6 seasons so far.

That's literally more than about 98%+ of all 'Cuse grads will make in the entirety of their 4+ decades of working lifetime. (FWIW, 40 years at $545k/per = $21.8MM)
And he did it in 8 years.

not great, but not a bad career.

Haha. I meant not great for a professional athlete career, not one of us regular Joes. Although, probably above average considering how many guys wash out of the league so fast. He definitely set himself up to have a nice life if he took care of his finances correctly. He seems like a smart guy. No reason to think he didn't do it right.

In case anyone is interested in what other recent Cuse players have been making in the league.

Current Cuse players career earnings to date:

$97,224,316 - Dwight Freeney
$17,166,898 - Justin Pugh
$3,003,876 - Jay Bromley
$1,474,171 - Cam Lynch
$1,070,008 - Riley Dixon
$833,000 - Brisly Estime
$232,800 - Sean Hickey
$138,300 - Eric Crume
$82,600 - Amba Etta-Tawo
$35,471 - Ron Thompson

McNabb career earnings are reported at $97,502,235 (Highest career earner from Syracuse). Freeney will pass McNabb if he ends up playing another season. Chandler Jones could easily pass both of them depending on how long his career lasts. He could be our first 100 million dollar man in the NFL.

What's chandler at?

Not great? Man, I'd be as happy as a clam for half that.

I elaborated in response to 721Comstock up there. What I meant was it's not a great amount of money for an NFL career. Obviously for most people in the world it would be like hitting the lottery.

Agreed...not bad for a 2 star recruit

Good point, like bromley, JB isnt nearly on AJs level, but 2 stars. Boy, i feel old with AJ retiring, him spending that afternoon in South Bend, in the backfield seems like yesterday:)

In P’s heyday, that might encompass the list of guys just in the NFC East...

Starting...

Congrats to Art on having a great NFL career. I have seen many great performances by many great Syracuse football players during my life, but the most dominant performance by any single player in a single game was probably what Art did to Notre Dame. Unbelievable.

I would love to watch the game again to see if he was as amazing that day as I remember him to be.

And Art had this tweet a few years ago on how much Jon was making busting heads in the UFC:

That Tweet was before Art or Chandler got their second contracts. They both have way more money than Jon. It's not even close. Especially since Jon washed himself out of UFC.
