Is this is his first year ever with all his own players pretty much? How different is it coming in with other players and leaving versus now having everyone be yours?

he's got pressure . nobody expected much so far during his tenure. this year there are high expectations.

Agree with what’s been posted so far. He should be nowhere near a hot seat, but a game like this, in Year 4 is worthy of some serious criticism.

The defense has talent and was a complete no show. Even worse, they were manhandled at the point of attack and looked both confused and disinterested all game.

The offense is a referendum on Dino. This is his offense, his players and his system. Many here worried about his recruiting rankings, and in a game like today, that worry is as present as ever.

He had a great year with a great collegiate QB that he didn’t recruit.

This is is his show. Pocket passer, with his recruits on the OL and at skill positions.

Coaching/System can mask talent deficiencies, but the worry after today is, did Eric Dungey, and a weak schedule mask that?

This is was a G-Rob era game that none of us saw coming, especially in such a big moment.

Dino should have our trust right now, but he’s also worthy of our criticism.

Here's the thing though... the way the schedule lines up next year, we might be able to mask again.

<Insert anecdotal observation about there was that one time we had a 2 star recruit become a great player and one time Bama had a 5 star become a dud so recruiting rankings don't matter.>

He has had pretty much everything you could ask for during his first three years of a rebuild.

Year 1 - Upset W over Va Tech, National TV spotlight
Year 2 - Upset W over Clemson, National TV spotlight
Year 3 - 10 wins, near upset of eventual national champion

Season ticket sales through the roof, upgrades within the program via multimedia, assistant coach pool, extension of contract, Dome Reno coming...

This year he has his hand-picked QB. Sorry, but no excuses. I expect 8-10 wins. And right now, they’ll be lucky to get to 6 if they play like that.

Good post. This is not directly related to your post, but something that bothered me last week and today was the lack of pace on offense.

I still think 8-4 is a reasonable goal. Obviously today was a disaster, but let’s be honest after Clemson our schedule is soft. It’s basically nine probably-unranked teams.

It makes it worse? He was able to win with other people’s recruits after having to teach them new playbooks but is struggling with his own recruits that have only been in his system?

The teams that could have gone into College Park and escaped with a win today don’t play OOC road games. Half of the top ten probably get knocked off by that performance.

Yeah, sometimes you lose because your D has a bad game and the opposing O was average and took advantage. Today looked like a very good O playing against a D that played its game.

They might be for real.

Defenses are allowed to try and stop opponents.

This isn’t basketball where some team shoots 60% from way beyond the 3 point line.

Think of how we played 2 years ago at home vs Clemson and that’s what we ran into today.

Our D must have spent the week reading this forum and we’re way too proud of themselves after Liberty. Every first down they picked up 8 yards even when nothing was there and every third down was converted with ease.

Who besides Bama (who always opens with a neutral site game) in the AP Top 10 doesn’t play OOC road games?

Sure he is under pressure but it would have to be a really really terrible season to be on a hot seat.
Upside we don’t have to “worry” about USC anymore.

Stop.

Really.

Stop.

Let’s worry about success.

so losing a game is "struggling"?

this is such a stupidly bad analogy that I am unable to not respond.

He doesn’t have the players. Is that his fault or SU is not considered a football school etc. but unless we have the players eventually we have many more of these days,
. Tough to be a SU fan.
