My wife has been in Morocco for 2 months with 2 more months to go and I'm heading to see her over Thanksgiving. Meeting in Barcelona then taking a quick flight to Prague, train to Vienna, flight to Marrakesh, train to Tangier over 11 days. Not a ton of time in each place obviously but just looking for any must stop spots from anyone that has visited any of the cities. Looking for the best food, drinks and actual culture. We are pretty experienced travelers and adventurous and would prefer to get away from the basic tourist garbage.

I can only speak to Barcelona...you asked about the restaurant I went to in my post in the Bourdain thread, but to reiterate:

La Casa Dorita - simply awesome food there.

The other places that we ate at in Barcelona were all good, but not necessarily memorable like that place was. As far as bang for your buck goes, there's a place called Rekon's that just does empanadas and stuff like that super cheap (see picture below). We thought that was very good for the price at least (and it was also like a 2 minute walk from the apartment we were staying in, so that was nice too).

As far as other stuff goes, I won't bother mentioning the major tourist attractions that I'm sure you already know about, but one of the places that we toured that we were pretty surprised by was the Palau de la Música Catalana. The architecture in there was super cool, including one of my favorite pictures I've taken of the roof of the music hall (see below). We only did a tour there, but it might be cool to go see a show there if you're into that kind of thing.

I've been to Prague, Marrakesh and Vienna a few times.

Prague is great for beer, probably the best in the world. The dumplings are very good.

Vienna is extravagant and gorgeous. You'll feel like you're walking around in a museum. The coffee houses are a must, and expect expensive and snoody service. Be ready to spend $20 on coffee and a desert to share.

Marrakesch is gorgeous and the tea is great. However, be ready to be treated like a second class citizen and to be scammed at every turn. Don't even make conversation with strangers who walk up to you trying to chat it up, especially those trying to help guide you through the market. It's just a scam. They will tell you that you're going the wrong way before they even know where you're going.

Check out trip adviser for each before you go.

I'm happy to help however I can.

Ha, great description of Vienna.

Prague is great, felt a bit small to me, but agree on most of the other stuff. The escorts are fine, but they run some clever games on you, so be careful!

Think you were pretty much spot on with everything here. I fell in love with Prague, Vienna was absolutely gorgeous and I despised Marrakesh. Had that exact experience multiple times of the telling you that you're going the wrong way. Luckily my wife is fluent in Arabic so she was able to read signs and landmarks so that we didn't get too lost within the Jemaa el-Fnaa. Like Tangier a lot better but I have 0 desire to return to Morocco anytime soon if ever.
